About the property

Bunyip Cottage is named after the Birdseye Macrocarpa Slab Timber Table and after my registered Fold name for the Scottish Highland Cattle, Lochness Bunyips. The Table resembles a sleeping bunyip.

The self catering boutique cottage is surrounded by verandahs, so you can relax in the shade or sun & hide from wind or rain. Has it's own private entrance, set on 50 Acres of paddocks, forest & creek in a secluded private valley.

The Cottage sleeps 4. Camping permitted with full cottage booking for those larger families. One queen bed overlooking the valley, creek and forest and two singles over looking garden & dog enclosure. Well equipped modern kitchen, bathroom & lounge with open living area overlooking the creek, forest, paddocks & Highland cows.

A secluded wrought iron bath is situated under the stars & heated by timber for those romantic hot or cold nights.

Gather round the Campfire for that outback feast & share your days experience or maybe a sing along.

NON SMOKING & shoes off, so bring your slippers or woolly socks.

NO PETS INSIDE THE COTTAGE. We provide a large grassed enclosure & house for your pet. ALL DOGS must be on a lead at all times. Leash free areas, including beaches, for your pet to explore, are found in the Sapphire Coast area.

Sorry, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, are pets allowed inside the cottage, & for your pets' safety, they are not permitted near the Highland Cows. Please keep your dog on a leash at all times.

Highland Cattle are very docile, horny & hairy. They enjoy being brushed & love to be around people. The Highland cattle are sold to other breeders for Show, Stud, Pets and Meat.

For those who love nature, bring a torch & explore along the creek & forest at dusk/night for those elusive Sugar, Feathertail & Yellowbellied Gliders along with Possums, Wombats, Roos, Bandicoots, Bats, Birds, Water Dragons, Snakes, Goannas & many more.

The Sapphire Coast is abundant with National Parks, Lakes, Rivers & Beaches. It has great fishing, kayaking, boating & bush walking. Take a charters from Bermagui to Montague Island, where the island is surrounded by Seals, passing Whales & Dolphins. Come and explore the great outdoors.

Stay, Relax & Enjoy the Great Sapphire Coast.

Amazing view fantastic property

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed for a week over New Year. The property was clean and very comfortable. Amazing veiws and our hosts were great, let us join them whilst they were caring for their beautiful cattle - great fun.

Wonderful to be able to wander their property down by the creek - spotting an array of wildlife, roos, ecidna, birds, enormous monitor lizard, sugar gliders and yes a snake...

Lots of nice little touches in this charming cottage including real free range eggs for breakfast. Thank you Kim and Zoran.

Owner's Response: It was great to have your family appreciate an Aussie farm with a hint of Scotland in the making & your family, coming from Scotland was all the more special. It was fun that you picked up that the cows sound like lions roaring rather than mooing or screaming like the Welsh Black cattle next door. I'm glad you spotted some of the wildlife and I'm sure the monitor was hanging out for all your fish you caught - thank you so much for sharing, we enjoyed the fish as sashimi & stakes. We don't have many snakes, so I'm glad you ticked it off your list. Hope you can visit again.

Huge Let Down

  • 1 of 5

It appeared as though the cottage had once been a lovely place to stay. However, on a recent trip the cottage required a lot of maintenance. The lawn was not mowed, the deck was peeling and there were spiderwebs covering the furniture inside and on the windows. The owner was not overly friendly. It was quiet overpriced for what we got.

Owner's Response: Thank you ERICA BELL for your CURT reply. I run the property by my self. And what part of 'I'VE JUST HAD FOOT SURGERY' did you not understand? You turned up with an extra person & barge into my house demanding extra sheets/towels, after I was advised it was only yourself and James Loure. Instead of charging James' brother full price, I charged him 1/2 price to help YOU YOUNG UNI STUDENTS OUT. The webbing on the artistic painting....IT IS MEANT TO BE THERE! If you have a phobia of spiders...move to Mars. I'm sorry the lawn wasn't manicured..I did mentioned that I had foot surgery. Hope you enjoyed the Cobargo Wedding on 1st October 2016. Last of all ....PLEASE DO NOT COME AND VISIT AGAIN.

Relax in a rural setting close to the south coast

  • 5 of 5

Our Xmas with family worked really well in this comfortable cottage perched above a peaceful rural valley. Grazing cattle nearby, moon rises across the valley, yoga on the balcony, coffee in Cobargo and visits to nearby Bermagui to cool off in the sea. It was just what we hoped for.

We stayed in winter and loved the wood heater, the beautiful warm linen and sitting out under the stars by the firepit. We enjoyed walking by the creek and visiting the lovely cattle before wandering back up to the cottage as the sun went down, accompanied by the geese on their return to the homestead. The cottage has everything you need with a great balcony to sit and enjoy the sounds of the bush. Thanks Kim, we'll be back.
