I have lived in Homer for over 25 years, I love it's spectacular natural beauty and you will too!
Jeanette Ramberg purchased this chalet in 2002
Great view, privacy, comfort and just 10 minutes drive to all the activities.
Guests love feeling at home in clean comfortable furniture with full kitchen....but mostly they are in awe of the view!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at this fabulous home. The owner, Jeanette made her home feel like a home away from home. Every time we turned around, there was a thoughtful item she had left in the house that we might potentially use, from Kleenex, to spices, to paper towels. The house was immaculate and beautiful. We enjoyed just soaking in the fabulous view. The house is close to town and activities (it’s a five minute drive to town), but gives one the feeling that they are in beautiful Alaska. It had a pleasant rural atmosphere. The home was more than we ever imagined in comfort, beauty, quietness. The home was decorated with an outdoor elegant Alaskan theme. Also, there was cable TV. The yard has patio furniture and a grill. The kitchen has everything you could need to cook with. Everything was operational. Jeanette called us to make sure everything was all right and to let us know that we could call her if we needed anything.
Yes, if we ever get the opportunity to travel back to Alaska, we would certainly like to stay at Jeanette’s home again only for a longer stay next time. Truly, a home away from home with a wonderful, considerate owner. We highly recommend this home to stay at.
This home is less than a 10 minute drive from the Spit. Is was stocked with everything you might need in the kitchen and also lots of towels, paper towels, Kleenex, lots of night lights, maps, some fancy binoculars, different coffees and teas, sugar, creamers, and even honey.
There was a fire pit outside and wood provided. There was a fan in our bedroom which I appreciated for white noise. This house is very quiet. The owner lives upstairs but we never heard a footstep or any movement.
Although there were only two of us it would be great for more because people can sleep in and you can't hear anything going on in the living area.
We would stay here again.
House was very clean, nice and comfortable for my family of 5. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need to cook all your meals. The yard was adequate for playing outside with my children, which my 6 year old son very much appreciated. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The owner stays onsite, which was a little uncomfortable at first, but at the same time, she was there to answer any questions or address any of our concerns. It didn't really bother us too much, but perhaps may be a problem for others. The view is spectacular. Overall, I highly recommend this property for folks who are looking for a good, clean, comfortable home to reside while enjoying the Homer area.
Glacier Vista is a spacious, tastefully decorated home filled with amenities and literature on how to enjoy the area. We enjoyed the first truly dark bedroom of our trip and had two great nights of sleep. It was a wonderful place to relax. We enjoyed the view of the mountains across the bay as we ate.
This is our second trip to this property with our first being 4 years ago. We stayed about a week each trip and loved every minute of it. We travel fairly extensively and have never found a home better furnished with supplies and cooking utensils. Her view out the front windows of her house is breathtaking! She has a day bed in that room with wrap around windows at the front portion of the house that allows you to view Kachemak Bay 24 hours a day. Since the sun never really goes down in June, I spent several nights using the bed and admiring the view. Both back bedrooms have heavy curtains and shut out the light allowing you to sleep in almost total darkness. She has fans in each room to get some circulation if you need it, however it never got to warm. The home is exceptionally quiet with occasional airplane flying over or a car driving by. Jeanette is an excellent hostess and was quick to answer any questions we had. Homer, Alaska is one of my favorite spots of all time and as I drove away I felt a sense of loss. I have recommended this property to several of my friends and hope to make an annual return visit as long as I can. Thanks Jeanette for your hospitality and allowing us to stay with you in your beautiful home!
We had a wonderful stay at this clean home. The rented section is actually the lower floor of the owner's home. She respected our privacy and if she was upstairs we wouldn't have known it. It is just outside of Homer with a great view of the Grewingk Glacier across the bay. There is a nice yard and nicely stocked kitchen. Little touches like freshly picked daisies in a vase. Bedrooms were nice and dark. We had two couples and a single friend joined us. The bed in the living room was adequate for our friend, but it was not quite as dark for sleeping. The owner was very helpful and the check in/check out was very smooth. I would recommend this home to anyone staying in Homer...much more comfy and roomy than a hotel.
