Binalong Bay on the Beach

Bedrooms 6
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

For your added security, this property is only managed in Australia and we never request payments be made to overseas bank accounts.

This absolute beach front double-storey house with a detached Apartment, is situated just 30 meters from the pure white sand and pristine waters of beautiful Binalong Bay Beach. Experience the ever-changing moods of the ocean from the upstairs living areas which can provide 180 degree views of brilliantly coloured granite rocks and surfers catching wild waves. When the emerald waters are calm, you might even witness the spectacle of large pods of dolphins herding salmon into the bay, or the occasional migrating humpback whale. Breakfast on the sun-soaked deck is a treat not to be missed.

The outdoor entertaining area with gas BBQ, open fireplace and seating for 12 people is a great place to eat, drink and relax. Beach fishing for Australian Salmon or Mulloway is a popular past-time and you can swim, surf, kayak or just relax on the sand, right in front of the house.

The beach house has a large open plan living/dining/TV area, and a fully equipped kitchen and walk-in pantry downstairs and another large living area and deck upstairs. It can sleep 8 people in 4 bedrooms (3 x queen-size beds and 1 x single bunk beds) and there are 3 bathrooms (main bedroom with en-suite). The detached Apartment can accommodate 4 people in 2 bedrooms (1 x queen-size bed and 2 x single beds) and it has a bathroom and small kitchen/living area.

This property is at the northern end of the beach, is a fully fenced block that is safe for small children and has plenty of space for a game of backyard cricket. It is protected from the prevailing winds by flowering gums and mature pine trees, which ensures peace, privacy and tranquillity as well as regular visits from a variety of bird life, including a family of Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos.

Sorry, no pets, no wheelchair access and no smoking inside.

Close By

A 20 minute walk south along the beach, or on the track that winds along the top of the dune, will take you to the local Cafe which has spectacular views of the coastline north to Eddystone Point Lighthouse. This is a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner or just a coffee or glass of wine and a cheese plate. If you choose the dune track, you will wander next to Grants Lagoon, ideal for canoeing, fly-fishing, bird watching and easy swimming.

Heading north along the beach, over the rocks and along the walking tracks behind them, will take you through a string of enchanting beaches and rocky headlands towards 'The Gardens", with particularly stunning displays of wildflowers from August to November.

Beach holidays for families, couples or small groups don't get much better than this.

Places to Visit

St Helens is the largest town on the East coast of Tasmania and is an easy 10 minute drive from the house, on sealed roads. It has supermarkets, restaurants, hotel and liquor outlets, coffee shops and cafes, a newsagency, pharmacy, medical centre, small retail shops and a fishmongers on the wharf. There is a golf course, ANZ and Commonwealth banks, a library and history room and public internet access.

South of Binalong bay take the scenic coastal route to Bicheno, Coles Bay and Wineglass Bay for some stunning scenery and fabulous walks. The Mt Elephant Pancake Barn makes superb sweet and savoury crepes well worth the winding drive up the pass to St Marys.

North of Binalong Bay you will find Mt William National Park, Weldborough Pass Scenic Reserve with its fine stands of old myrtle, blackwoods and tree ferns and don't miss the spectacular St Columba Falls and the Pyengana Cheese Factory for cloth wrapped cheddar and a Cafe lunch. The historic Blue Tier and the town of Derby are also worth a visit.
