Overview

Photos and Description of this Fraser Island holiday house

SUNSET HOUSE IS THE ORIGINAL KINGFISHER BEACH HOUSE, AND IT COMES WITH A SPA.

It offers views over the Great Sandy Straight and is the closest house to the Kingfisher Resort facilities, and just minutes from the beach. It is a large and very comfortable house with 4 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 12 people. It is one of the few houses that offers a spa.

YOU DON'T NEED A VEHICLE TO ACCESS THE HOUSE. Just come across on the ferry and it's a 5 minute walk to Sunset House from reception. Your bags will be delivered to the house.

You can stay at Sunset House from $625 per night! And for new bookings in March, we can offer a 10% discount. That'sgreat value for a waterfront house, so close to the Resort and the beach.

We also offer a 10% discount for mid-week stays and for all 7 day stays.

Sunset House has a fully equipped, modern kitchen, a large fridge and dishwasher. Catering for a large group is easy.

The main deck is perfect for dining and has a BBQ.

Relax in the spa on the top deck and watch the sun set over the Great Sandy Straight.

It is located close to the wedding beach area, so is perfect for the wedding party and/or guests. And for those averse to beach weddings, its far enough away.

For the summer months the house is fully air conditioned.

For the few cool winter months there is a slow combustion heater and an ample supply of firewood. Sunset House is the only house at the Resort with a cosy open fire.

Sunset House is ideally suited for families, but it is a fantastic spot for a couple With its slightly quirky layout, the house can provide privacy for two families, with a queen and double bed in two quite separate areas. It could also be the perfect venue for a small corporate 'off site'.

And to repeat, you do not need a car to stay at Sunset House. It is a quick walk from reception.

A large, very comfortable house, with 4 bedrooms and a spa

Built in the style of the nearby resort, with polished floors throughout, Sunset House has large indoor and outdoor entertaining areas. The house is fully equipped for family living. You can stay here completely independent of the resort if you wish, or use its extensive facilities. Your choice.

.

Our house consists of 4 bedrooms configured as follows:

The main bedroom with a queen sized bed and the largest en suite we've ever seen. It comes with a second spa bath. This bedroom adjoins the top deck with the main spa. The top deck offers panoramic water views.

A second bedroom, in a separate part of the house, with a queen sized bed, and water views from its separate deck.

Two additional bedrooms with double beds and single bunk bed above. Each sleep a maximum of three.

As well there is a fold-out double sofa bed near to the dining room which can be used with a large group.

In total, we can sleep 12.

Our house has a fully configured kitchen, with a large fridge/freezer, cook top and oven, microwave, dishwasher and sufficient kitchenware to cater for a large group. If you need anything else, ring reception. They will help.

The laundry has a large washing machine and dryer.

The air conditioned living room has a large flat screen TV and slow combustion heater for the winter months. It exits onto a large deck, suitable for relaxing on the sunbeds, or entertaining around a large table. The BBQ is located on this deck.

There is off-street parking for 3 cars.

If you need a roll away bed, a cot or highchair, these need to be pre-booked with the Resort. A small charge will apply.

Relax at Sunset House and use it as a base to explore unique Fraser island

Guests staying at Sunset House are offered full access to the facilities of the world class Kingfisher Bay Eco Resort, including pools, restaurants, bars, tennis courts and shops. The resort also offers many activities for adults and children. The house is close enough to the resort that you don't need a vehicle. However you might like to bring your own 4WD across on the barge or hire one to explore the island. It is the perfect starting point to explore magnificent Fraser Island. Don't forget whale watching from July to October.

You will be welcomed by the Resort. Make sure you look at their website and consult "Whats On" for a list of weekly activities.

Our best things to do:

Laze around the deck or the pool and read books.

Explore the Island with a 4WD. Swim at Lake Mackenzie, walk around Central Station, drive to Eli Creek/the Maheno wreck and Indian Head are the ‘must do’s’. If you don’t have a 4WD, either hire one or do an organised tour with the Resort. This is great way to see the island if you only have a short time on the island.

For the fishers, just try the jetty. Bait is available from the jetty hut.

Our best walks...down the beach to Mackenzie's Jetty and look at what’s left of the Z-Force Commando base. For the more energetic you can walk to Lake Mackenzie. (Ask the Rangers for a map. Take water. Watch the tides on the Z Force walk). There is a nice short walk from the Resort (start at the top of the hill) to the Southern Lookout, then back to the Resort via a thirst quenching drink at the Sand Bar.

Whale watching...July to October. Amazing. And it’s only getting better. The whale watching boats will pick you up at the Kingfisher jetty not too early in the morning and drop you back around lunchtime. Not to be missed.

The eco thing - make use of the Rangers. They’re great, especially with the kids. The night walk is a must.

Do a bush tucker tasting (book at reception).

Kingfisher is an unrivaled location for year-round bird watching. April-May-June are possibly the best months. Don’t forget to pack the binoculars. And don’t hesitate to ask the rangers if you can’t identify a bird.
