Ferryview Island escape

Bedrooms 4

Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 4 nights

About the property

Just 20 minutes drive up the M1 from Sydney, you wind your way down to Brooklyn, your launching spot to Dangar island, a piece of paradise in the middle of the mighty Hawkesbury River, surrounded by national parks .

Once on the ferry, you feel your tensions slip away as the island draws closer. Stepping off, you find yourself worlds away- you can smell the flowers and hear the birds- and as you load your bags into the Ferryview wheelbarrow at the wharf you know that something special is about to begin......

Just a few doors away, Ferryview provides a peaceful retreat where friends and families can relax, revive and reconnect.

Full of old world charm and right on the water, Ferryview is central to all island facilities including the public ferry wharf, shop, bowling club and park and you can tie your own boat up by arrangement to Ferryview’s deep water jetty with pontoon.

Relax on the generous north facing veranda, taking in the river views and watch the ferry chugging slowly by. Catch Flathead and Jewfish from the private jetty, explore in Ferryview's canoes or play on the rolling lawns. Perfect for families, Ferryview adjoins the park complete with a playground and bowling green and is a level five minute stroll to Bradley’s beach. Relax, revive and reconnect

Time seems to stand still on Dangar Island, finally you are able to catch up and really reconnect with friends and family......and take a bit of time for yourself.

BBQ on the veranda with the Kookaburras watching from the railings, escape for a quiet drink and a fish on the pontoon as the sun sets or paddle around the island in Ferryview's canoes or rowboat.......

Cocoon yourself with books, magazines, DVDs and board games between table tennis tournament or boules on the lawn.....

Wander the tree lined, car free roads, play on the beach, explore the bush reserve or enjoy a lunch or cappuccino at the shop overlooking the ferry wharf. Play barefoot bowls or on weekends catch a meal or a drink at the club............. Ferryview it's OK to do as much or as little as you like!

Space to gather together- room to be apart

As you enter the large central living area, looking out across the veranda, it seems the house is actually hanging over the river! With lounges to seat your whole group, a roomy dining setting and reverse cycle air conditioning, there is plenty of scope for enjoying the games or DVDs provided or your very own relaxed conversation.

The most popular room in the house has to be the roomy, north facing veranda with its comfy chairs as well as dining setting and BBQ. Shady and catching the breeze in summer and sunny and sheltered in winter, this is a really special place to watch the passing boats and if you're lucky, a pod of dolphins!

With everything you need from paper towel to coffee plungers, the kitchen makes cooking a breeze and includes a stove, microwave, full sized fridge-freezer and opens onto the veranda adjacent to the BBQ. Pantry basics are on hand from rice and flour through to sauces, spices and oils.

Bedrooms all have ceiling fans and the comfy beds are made up ready to fall into (linen is included in the tariff so you can travel light):

Bedroom 1- queen bed and single bed

Bedroom 2- double bed, two single beds and a trundle

Bedroom 3- queen bed

Bedroom 4- double bed

Two bathrooms with shower supplies at the ready and a fully equipped laundry make life easy.

Finally a large covered patio has a table tennis table that can be easily converted for two or four players, single practice or folded away altogether.

We had a wonderful time at Ferryview. The house has everything you could possibly want, and more. Super comfy beds, everything clean and tidy, ceiling fans in every room and all mod cons. Great holiday reading in a well stocked library, cooking facilities and utensils suitable for a family, dvd's & games a plenty, etc. Right on the water with well kept garden, kayak & dingy as described and 3 minutes from the cafe and 'bowlo. It poured with rain the whole weekend, and we still had a wonderful time. Would definitely go there again. Thanks to the thoughtful owners :-)

Brilliant for young and old!!

  • 5 of 5

Ferryview had everything we needed for a fantastic family reunion. Ages in our group ranged from 9 to 82 years and everyone had a great time. For the young ones getting on the water was a must with the watercraft and safety equipment provided. Table tennis was for the young and old as were the great selection of board games. The older folk enjoyed fishing from the jetty, basking in the warm sun on the verandah and making use of the TV and great DVD selection.

I was worried about having to carry over everything we needed for meals, but the pantry had a lot of basics which Jenny was happy to tell us about in advance.

Dangar Island itself is a wonderful place. The kids enjoyed playing on the beach whilst the adults explored the island via its bush tracks.

It was a magical time and will be remembered fondly by our whole family!

Fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Ferryview has a top location with a northerly aspect on the northern side of Dangar Island.

We experienced a cold southerly change during our stay, and yet we were able to relax in complete comfort on the front verandah (during heavy rain outside) without any disturbance.

The furniture and facilities (TV/video, library, table tennis table, etc) allowed us to have a very relaxing and enjoyable extended weekend.

The property's jetty and pontoon allows easy access to water by boat.
