About Julie and Peter Ryan
Qualified land restorers and managers with a vision for landscape, diverse wildlife and natural bush, quietness and natural beauty, and gardens.
Julie and Peter Ryan purchased this House in 2005
Why Julie and Peter Ryan chose Mullumbimby Creek
Stunning mountain and ocean views. Run-down horticultural farm in need of restoration. Previously a horticultural farm operated by Californians, and subsequently, a Japanese Zen Buddhist priest and family. Now a peaceful, restored 32 acres of native bush, habitat, and gardens with some avocados and bananas.
What makes this House unique
Soaring cliffs in backyard, ocean views, mountain views, own creek and waterfall, and only 15 mins from services and coast. Quite unique.

The property is an extremely nice cottage perched on a very high hill above a rain forest overlooking the coast and Mullumbimby below. There is a fantastic assortment of birds and other creatures on the property that makes you feel like you’re staying in a National Park. The accommodations were first class, the views outstanding, and the hosts gracious and friendly. I couldn’t of asked for a better spot. I hope we have the opportunity to stay here again one day.
Everything we looked for in accommodation.
Clogheen Cottage is nothing short of brilliant. It exceeded all our expectations. Magnificent views , beautiful balcony and gardens, very peaceful spot, fantastic pool, beds were very comfortable, the wood fired heater was welcome on the cooler nights, everything worked as it should and all the best parts of the area are only an easy half hour away. Peter and Julie could not have been more helpful and welcoming hosts. We hope to come again one day.
We chose Clogheen Cottage for a quiet weekend away and we loved our stay. The sunrise and sunsets over the spectacular views were amazing. Peter and Julie were really welcoming and accommodating and have thought of everything you need. Close enough to Byron and Brunswick but there's a real sense of getting away from it all. Enjoyed a great hike at Minyon Falls.
A beautiful place
Perfect location for a quiet getaway. The views were unparalleled, the facilities 10/10.
Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.
Peter and Julie were fabulous hosts.
Totally loved our time at Clogheen
Do stay visit anymore else.
We stayed at rhe cottage for 8 nights. Filled with adventures both outside and inside the property. Th house was immaculate, so light filled rooms. The balcony had amazing views. and the hosts peter and Julie were a dream to work with and so generous from our fresh farm fruit, a baked date loaf fresh from the oven oh and the avocados we generously were given. We were totally spoilt and even now, a day later we are grieving the loss of this place. It’s magical. Highly, highly recommended. Thanks Peter!
Personal touches of offers for tour of property, homemade guacamole , free avocadoes etc ., just added to the cosy house and spectacular scenery.
Nestled beneath volcanic cliffs, sitting above the meandering creek and valley. Behind iconic Byron Bay, in a quiet mountain setting with stunning views of cliffs, mountains, and ocean.
Lovely home surrounded by manicured gardens and rainforest, and short walks. Taste spray-free avocados and bananas when in season. Sit by the wood fire in winter, swim in the tropical pool in summer.
Close to Mullumbimby, a welcoming village with good amenities.
