Le Cayron holiday house

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 3 nights

About the property

"Le Cayron", at the edge of Bellingen, is located half way between the ocean (Urunga/Hungry Heads) and the mountains (Dorrigo), with links to both Urunga and Dorrigo. Situated next to the Old Butter Factory and the Golf course, Le Cayron is walking distance from town, yet you feel you are miles away from everything. This beautiful old style (late 1800's) two storey home retains many of it's original features including the timber lined walls, polished six inch floor boards, high ceilings and intricate timber work and arches.

Le Cayron can accommodate up to 6 people maximum. There are two double bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a queen size bed, plus a lounge room that has a double bed and can also be used as a third bedroom. There are two single beds in the sunroom which can be used for children.

The bathroom is roomy with a large bath. The kitchen is fully equipped and renovated.

There is also a large carport. The garden faces the mountains and there is an uninterrupted view of the countryside. Drop over for a coffee at the nearby Old Butter Factory, walk up to town or just enjoy this private rural setting near the river with fabulous rural and mountain views and lovely breezes.

Le Cayron is a fantastic house for family holidays. It has board games and lots of books.

The owner, when not travelling, will be staying in a studio that is downstairs and has its own entrance on a different side to the house. She will let you know if she is going to there during your stay.

Comfortable and welcoming

  • 4 of 5

This is a large comfortable home in an excellent position. It is older and cluttered with interesting things, so not for those who like sleek & modern, lol. Every possible need had been thought of, right down to filtered coffee. We particulary appreciated arrangements that allowed for our late arrival.

Worst experience of holiday home in Australia

  • 1 of 5

Dirty, broken chipped utensils in the Kitchen. Smelly linen and towels. Broken furniture, all different dining chairs. House full of chaotic stuff. Instructions everywhere from the owner which was not relaxing. Not worth the money we paid.

Owner's Response: What can I say, this is the worst review I have ever received and no one called Gary booked the house recently!! I would like to point out that the house has a fabulous kitchen with everything you need. As there is a dishwasher it may happen that at times when too full that a knife or fork is not cleaned properly and is put back by tenants in the drawer by mistake and I apologise for this as I am often travelling and cannot check everything. There are however lots of clean and not broken utensils!!! But what surprises me most in this review is the one star for location, as the house could not be more perfectly located. It overlooks the mountains and is surrounded by dairy farms, yet you are only 2 minutes' walk from the Old Butter Factory Café and shops, the golf course, walking distance to town and the river. The house has lots of art and books, which gives it a lot of charm. It is spacious, confortable, with high ceilings with lots of extra space downstairs for kids to play.

Very bad experience

  • 1 of 5

The house was at a quiet place but it wasn't pleasant to walk into the property. There was way too much stuff that included broken furniture, dirty utensils, chipped crockery. The house needs a throrough cleaning and decluttering. The owner has emotional attachment to all the stuff and hasn't thrown any out even if it is not usable. The owner had left instructions everywhere to do stuff and maintain the house which was not relaxing when you are on holiday. Asking the tenant to remove and wash dirty linen doesn't happen in a holiday home. Towels were smelly and dull, so was the linen. So many packed food items and some were even expired. I would rather book a hotel next timewhich we have always done and have been happy but that didn't happen in 'La Cayron'.

Spacious and relaxed

  • 4 of 5

Le Crayon is a very relaxed property perfectly organised with stacks of books and art and comfy furniture. Its a good kitchen fully equipped for cooks. It is positioned with views across paddocks which was relaxing. I also loved being able to walk through the golf course down the road with my dog in the evenings. A restful stay

The best ever

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed at Le Cayron over the summer and it was without a doubt the best time of our lives. The house has everything you could ever dream of, including a multitude of sleeping options, huge sprawling garden backing onto the river, a big outdoor table where you can have dinner under the stars, a delicious bath from which you can see cows pottering around in the next door paddock etc. We loved it so much! The house is just in the most perfect location too - close enough to walk into town and right next door to the old butter factory (so you can wander over and pick up a little coffee and a treat any time). We all regularly reflect on our time at this house and miss it so much! It feels like the house you grew up in <3 Thank you so much Alice, you have such a special place.
