If you are looking to unwind and escape the pressures of daily life then the peace, tranquillity and glorious seclusion of Bedarra Island is the perfect place.
Located approximately 4 kilometres off the coast of tropical Far North Queensland, halfway between Cairns and Townsville, Bedarra Island is an exclusive privately owned tropical island on the Great Barrier Reef.
Bedarra is the "mother" island in the family group of islands discovered by Captain James Cook in 1770.
The inspiring surrounds became the home of one of the original beachcombers, artist Noel Wood. Noel lived a most idyllic lifestyle here for nearly 60 years and several of his original artworks are on display in the Bedarra Island House.
The peaceful Bedarra Island House has been a place for artists and chefs to create, couples to indulge themselves and families to enjoy "quality time" together.
This stunning pole home has 360 degree panoramic views. The back deck has views over Dunk Island and mainland Australia, the front deck views over the Family Group of islands south to Hinchinbrook Island and the endless horizon!
The home is eco friendly, totally private and secluded.

Food and Beverage Supplies
There are no shops on Bedarra so all your supplies will need to be taken with you. We can assist you with your orders or provide you with local suppliers contact details. The suppliers will pack and the supplies will travel with you to the island.
What to wear?
As you will transfer from Mission Beach by boat you’ll need to wade through shallow waters and assist with luggage/groceries from/to the beach, boat and house…it is suggested that you have shoes that are easily removed and maybe a change of clothes eg shorts. In winter the evenings can be cool so please pack some warm clothes.
What to pack?
Basically as little as possible. A few casual clothes and one pair of shoes, maybe some sandals or slides…don’t bring towels and linen as the house is fully stocked. Do bring some of your favourite books, magazines, hat, camera, sunscreen, toothpaste, Ipod etc. If possible do not bring lots of little bags, but a duffle style bag that is easy to manage. Consider packing a small back pack and reef shoes for outdoor exploration.
On arrival at Bedarra
You will be met by the caretakers who will bring the 'Haffy' (motorised wheelbarrow) and assist you to the house and provide an orientation of the house, island and surrounds.
The house runs on a solar power system.
This is a limited resource, please conserve it. The tap water is from an island spring, safe and wonderful to drink.
All garbage is removed by guests. Disposal of garbage is included in your transfer. Please use strong garbage bags.
Your departure time would have been advised prior to your arrival. Our caretakers will contact you prior to departure to verify your transfers and make arrangements for their assistance with your belongings on the Haffy.
Telstra mobile phones work very well on the island. Optus and some of the other companies do have problems.
