B & B at Winterbrook

Bedrooms 2
Property type hotel

About the property

Winterbrook is a Heritage Listed Building built in 1880 by a wealthy timber merchant . Originally known as 'Highfield House', over the years new owners have changed the name, once even being known as 'Gask House" but in the late 1990's it was changed to its name today 'Winterbrook'.

The original building was quite the homestead in its time, the property was much bigger than its size today and boasted an orchard, vegetable gardens, numerous trees and the usual outbuildings, some of which still stand today. The property today is 1 1/4 acres, the trees of yesteryear have grown and provide shady areas, the lovely garden is a pleasure to sit in and enjoy the birdlife or stroll through and enjoy the different seasons of the year.

The house has been fitted out in baltic pine and has 14foot ceilings in most of the rooms.

Over the years numerous owners have added their touch to renovating the house

and the end result is a warm and loving home which gives guests that welcoming appeal upon arrival.

Accommodation in the home consists of guests vertitually having 1/2 the house

to themselves, great for a couple or 2 couples holidaying together.

The rose room is furnished with pine furniture and has an ensuite whilst the orchid room has blackwood furniture, twin king beds and opens onto a verandah with its seperate private bathroom is across the hallway.

Both bedrooms have TV/DVD, heating, electric blankets, hairdryers, plenty of towels, bath robes, bar fridges and the usual complimentary toiletries.

Guests have the use of the front lounge which also has a TV/DVD, sound system,

library of reading books and dvd/cds. This room has a wood heater, perfect for that

winter's night, and plenty of seating. The dining room has coffee and tea making facilities for guests and we serve our continental breakfast in this room.

Breakfast consists of choice of juices, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, homemade breads,

fruit loaf, crumpets etc, homemade jams, freshly brewed tea or coffee.

The self-contained cottage is for guests who wish to be independant,

it contains a small kitchen complete with dishwasher, microwave/convection oven,

fridge, numerous appliances and bbq. The bathroom hosts a claw foot bath, double shower, and has that old world appeal. The accommodation has a queen bed with cedar furniture, leather reclining armchairs and desk/table for two.

This room also has a large screen LCDTV and blueray player. There is a verandah to sit back on and relax .

Guests are invited to enjoy the gardens and there is plenty of off street parking.

We are conveniently located between Devonport (home of the Spirit of Tasmania) and Burnie on the North West Coast of Tasmania.
