Overview

About the property

When you drive through the gate, you will know you have arrived somewhere special. You will be greeted with a spectacular drive through the rainforest, the sound of birds and most likely the sighting of wallabies.

Sweetwater Cottage is on a 40 acre property with large areas of natural rainforest, and boasts one of the largest private waterfalls in the area with a bushwalking track and creek side picnic area. The cottage itself is surrounded by gardens and the grounds abound with native wildlife including a spectacular assortment of birds that feed here daily. The décor is unique, and adds to the charm of this special cottage.

The large, covered outdoor entertainment area is perfect for family gatherings and celebrations and with the recently refurbished family annex we can comfortably sleep 16 adults.

This is the ideal location for large groups attending hinterland weddings, holding your hens weekend, girls getaway weekends, family and class reunions or gathering for family celebrations.

There are 3 separate areas to watch TV & DVD's and separate sleeping areas work well where a few families or extended families are planning to stay together. The 3 separate bathrooms and 4 toilets work well with large groups.

Guests are encouraged to keep their noise levels down and fit in with the environment and the peaceful nature of the setting.

Sweetwater Cottage is a delight to behold. It is truly a home away from home. Once here you won't want to go home.

The cottage is fully self contained with large well equipped kitchen, separate living areas, outdoor undercover entertaining area with bar-b-q, laundry and undercover car parking for 2 vehicles as well as plenty of parking for other guests.

On the GROUND FLOOR you will find 2 queen bedrooms; and 1 bathroom and separate toilet with extra bunk beds recently added adjacent to the laundry.

UPSTAIRS is a delightful retreat with a queen size bed, large bathroom, kitchenette and spare couch that becomes an additional double bed or day bed. There is also a TV & DVD and fire place in this area.

THE ANNEX is a large room that has been set up dormitory style with 5 single beds as well as having its own TV with DVD. There is also one single bedroom with a single bed in this area for a single adult or grandparent. This area also has a shower room, powder room and 2 toilets.

The lounge room has a large screen TV near the fireplace and a DVD and the dining room table seats 10.

The outdoor area has a large wooden table with bench seats that comfortably seats10; there are also two smaller wooden tables that each seat four. Extra trestle tables and stack chairs are provided for large groups. The outdoor entertainment area has a gas bar-b-q, a full size drinks fridge and an outdoor chimera where you can sit around and toast marshmallows on cold nights.

The fireplace will be set up ready to light and in winter the fireplace will be lit for you if you advise that you plan to arrive late.

From the moment you drive through the gate you know that you have arrived somewhere special. Everything is here! Come and enjoy!

This is the perfect place for large or extended families to stay together.

Although there are many interesting tourist attractions in the hinterland to entertain guests, sometimes you simply wish to relax and unwind without needing to drive anywhere. There are books to read, large screen TV to watch; a large collection of DVDs; sip wine by the fire; feed the birds; have a picnic by the creek; take a bush walk or walk to our waterfall. In summer you can even have a dip in the pool at the bottom of the falls.

There are separate facilities that would accommodate 3 families; teenage children or if you wish to bring elderly parents with you on holiday. This property is ideal for family reunions; extended family visiting the hinterland to attend the many wedding venues; or groups of friends wishing to holiday together.

The Hinterland is well known for its art galleries; restaurants; wineries; village shopping; antiques; bush walks; beautiful scenery; Maleny dairy & cheese factory. It is close to Australia Zoo if that is on your list of places to visit and 40 minutes to the nearest beach.

In 10 minutes you can drive to Maleny shopping village, Baroon Pocket Dam and Gardiner's Falls.

About Sweetwater Cottage / Dalmore Fea / Pamela Woodrow

Pam& Dal met while hot air ballooning over the Serengeti in Africa. They have 5 children and 9 grandchildren and enjoy sharing this special part of the world with guests. Before building a new home at the top of the property, the cottage was once their home until they made it available for rental in 2012. Dal was brought up in western Queensland and lived there for 60 years on a grazing and farming property before retiring to Sweetwater. These days you will find him constantly employed maintaining the grounds, walking tracks and mowing. Pam was once a school teacher and she looks after the running of the cottage and the bookings. Between them they have lots of collections from their various travels.

Why Sweetwater Cottage / Dalmore Fea / Pamela Woodrow chose Booroobin

We had always thought that we would retire to the Sunshine Coast and when we couldn't find the right place for us after several months of searching, we looked for inspiration to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

We walked the boundary of about 30 properties that were for sale at the time but when we drove into Sweetwater this one just felt right. Pam actually said "I am looking no further this is the one". And we still believe to this day that when you drive through our gate that you have arrived somewhere special. We have not found another driveway like ours in all our travels. It is special.

The property is extremely pretty, the rain forest areas are lush, and it has a beautiful ambiance. The decorations at the cottage are unique and this helps create a special character that you won't find anywhere else.

When we arrived things weren't quite as they are today. We have planted 5,000 native indigenous trees, eradicated most of the Lantana and other weeds, and spent many years regenerating the property. It has been a labour of love. The house has also had updates. The annex room was added due to constant requests for extra beds and the bathroom in the annex was added when one of our sons wanted to hold his wedding here. Each year we like to add something new and the maintenance of course is constant. This winter we are adding an outdoor fire pit so guests can sit around the fire outside as well as inside.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the property because it had everything we wanted. A quite secluded location, lots of wildlife, a running creek, a waterfall and magnificent views from the top of the hill. Although we lived in the cottage for 6 years we always planned to build at the top of the hill to enjoy the views on a daily basis. Having done that, we of course miss being surrounded by the gardens and the rain forest. By renting out the cottage it allows us to share this beautiful location with others and still spend time there as we clean and maintain it.

Beautiful!

  • 4 of 5

Recently had my hens weekend at Sweetwater and it was just perfect, the house and rooms were dressed beautifully with soap and towels, the linen and pillows where amazing, it rained and was foggy the whole time but the fire place and massive covered outdoor area made it feel so comfortable, warm and homey. There was no phone service and I absolutely loved it! We all sat around the fireplace and played games, talked and just enjoyed each others company. Sweetwater is absolutely beautiful and I definitely want to come back one day.

Paradise in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing family weekend away for my mother-in-laws 70th Birthday. Exploring the property was an absolute joy, the kids loved it. No Wifi meant long lazy nights playing board games by the warmth of the fire and being free from all technology - so relaxing. Waking up in the morning to complete silence was soul soothing, we most certainly will be back.

Thanks Pamela & Dal for sharing this amazing property.

Picturesque Property

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing weekend at Sweetwater Cottage celebrating our daughter's 21st with family and friends. The property has amazing views, a waterfall just 500 metres walk away, 2 fire places with a large outdoor entertaining area. The fauna and flora are also spectacular. Everyone was blown away by this property. My daughter said that her birthday was just perfect.
