Saltwater, Kooringal

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 2 nights

About the property

"Saltwater" is a charming Pacific style airy beach house situated in a cool and leafy garden.

The house is located one street back from the famous "Gutter" and is only 50metres from the water.

The house sleeps 10 people comfortably - it has a master bedroom with an ensuite, a room with a double bed, a bunk room (2 bunks) and a kids' room (2 single beds).

There are two bathrooms plus an outdoor shower; a clean and modern kitchen; 3 televisions; DVD players; an outdoor BBQ; large decks; a washing machine; fridge and chest freezer; ice maker; beach umbrellas, chairs and kids' toys; linen.

The house also has a large deck with day beds and comfortable chairs.

Everything you need for a relaxing family holiday at the beach.

Things to do

"Saltwater" is a short walk to the "Gutter". The kids can enjoy beachcombing in the sting ray holes and hunt for soldier crabs at low tide or swim in the shallows at high tide. And for the parents, it is the perfect place to watch the sun set and have a few 'sunsetters' while the kids play.

The ocean and surf side of Moreton Island is only a five minute drive from Kooringal. You can climb sand dunes, visit the Mirrapools or go snorkelling at the Tangalooma Wrecks.

If you are feeling more adventurous, you can head North for the day and visit the Champagne pools, the Blue Hole and the Lighthouse. Or even climb Mount Tempest.

You can fish from Reeders Point (only 5 minutes from the house) and the ocean beach or go squid fishing in the gutter (boats can be launched from near the house if you have a 'tinny').

National park - 4WD only

Moreton Island is a national park. There are no sealed roads - this means that there is 4WD access only. You will need a permit for your vehicle, which can be obtained from the barge operator. No pets are allowed.

"Saltwater" is off-grid. Electricity in the house is supplied by solar power. We have good solar batteries and a generator - although you need to be mindful of how much electricity you use. The water is rain water from a tank.

We have a friendly property manager who can help if you have any problems.

Loved Our Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Saltwater and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing stay. The house was beautifully presented and fully equipped with everything we needed including an impressive DVD collection of Kids movies. We loved the "in door out door" Balinese style of the house and the separate parents retreat with massive ensuite and the bath overlooking the back garden. Donna the owner was particularly helpful making our stay all the more enjoyable. The house is perfectly located in quite Kooringal and was just a short walk to the beach and the Gutter Bar (great place for seafood or a burger and a quiet beer). We will definitely be back

Really enjoyed staying at Saltwater, the house was immaculate upon arrival with a very well appointed kitchen and relaxing dining areas. Donna, the owner, could not have been more helpful with our last minute booking, with sound advice to make our visit to Moreton island even better. Our stay was very happy, a spacious beach house, loved the Balinese pavillion parents retreat. A short walk to the shop at the Gutter Bar and over a small sand dune to a lovely swimming beach. Thanks, would highly recommend and will return soon with friends and family.
