Rustic, Cozy Cabin in an Amazing Location!
My husband and I just spent four nights at this cute cabin in the Bijou Pines neighborhood. As a child my family came to an aunt's cabin in this neighborhood every summer so this was a nostalgic trip for me. You can't find a better location in South Lake Tahoe. You can walk to restaurants, the lake, the Safeway shopping center, even to State Line - which is under 2 miles away. The cabin had a well equipped kitchen and a charcoal BBQ on the deck. The downstairs bedroom was small but comfortable. Everything in the online listing was accurate. The only problem we had was we couldn't figure out how to work the Cable TV remote. We don't watch much TV so it wasn't a big problem for us but it would be helpful if the operating instructions were printed out for future occupants. We would definitely stay here again!
Great location, near many local activities. Nice old style Tahoe cabin. Small, but very cozy.
Great little cabin
My 3 girl friends and I had a great time in this cozy cabin. The loft upstairs with the 4 beds was perfect for us. Although the downstairs kitchen and bathroom was a bit tight, it was managable. The only negative thing if I could say any, was that the downstairs bedroom and bathroom were not clean when we checked in. The bed in the downstairs bedroom was not made, and there were dirty towels on the floor in the bathroom. Fortunately, the owner gave us a call during check in and apologized for mixing up the dates with the housekeeper. It was also not a huge issue for us, since we slept upstairs anyway.
Short Lake Tahoe Stay
Although we enjoyed our short stay (we had to leave early because of an unexpected death in the family - left Thursday evening), we would like to suggest a couple of improvements that were also noted by earlier guests: 1) Attach front door screen so door can be left open; 2) fix patio chair as I nearly fell flat on the deck (did contact owner); 3) replace flannel sheets with cotton/polyester linens as flannel way too hot for summer conditions (if we'd known about the flannel ones, we would have brought our own) and 4) stronger warnings about the bear that wonders around the property in the late afternoon. If the neighbors hadn't warned us, we'd need depends more than ever and not just 'cause we're old! Otherwise, we greatly enjoyed the location and its access to shops, markets, restaurants, library and beaches (nothing like free parking and bike paths!). The owner was very helpful with the keypad, which worked wonderfully. So much so, that we're considering it for our house! Price, amenities and accessibility are good, especially for families. Loved the bunny under the porch, blue jay that talks to all from the fence and innumerable chipmunks, chirping away, and butterflies.
Great little cabin
We live in a time when the words "mountain cabin" can mean a large, over the top, house. It was really refreshing to stay in a true cabin. The floors are just painted subflooring with some rugs thrown down, and there's nothing fancy about the kitchen, but isn't that exactly what you want in a "cabin". It was the perfect place to land for a couple nights after camping for a week with our 3 children. The only note that I would add is that it got a little stuffy in the summer heat during the day. A couple fans to move the cool evening air through would be a really nice addition.
Great cabin for a family getaway
Adorable cabin! Great location in South Lake Tahoe--close to lots of family-oriented activities. Perfect for our little getaway.
