About philomena

I was born hear and my first language was Irish I Came from a large family of 8 kids. I became a nurse where I traveled to England for work in my younger days but my heart never left home, I returned where myself and my husband Alec reared our family.

philomena purchased this house in 2006

Why philomena chose Dingle

Alec and I build the house as we wanted to share this piece of Heaven with our guests . Never have i grown tired of the view or even seen a place to equal the place that i call home.

Within a few minutes walk you are on the magical beach of clogher which you see from the cottage or Cuis Na Naon where generations of my family have fished from to rear there big family.

What makes this house unique

The view/Peace/Tranquility/Walks or Tracks and simple life... come and see for yourself!!

the views of the ocean were great and the home is situated perfectly for exploring the Dingle area. Phil was exceptional kind to us and brought feed for the younger ones to feed the sheep each day. The area is great for walks and Dingle area has plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Home away from home at one of the most beautiful places on earth!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Philomena,

Our family stayed in your beautiful Stone House on the Dingle Peninsula May 20-26, 2018. Our time there will remain one of our most treasured memories. Your home is so warm, comfortable, and inviting and is meticulously maintained. The breathtaking views overlooking the cliffs and water, however, make it one of a kind. We altered our plans to allow ourselves more time to spend near the house walking the beach, and cliffs. We enjoyed waking to stunningly, beautiful mornings, and dining several times at home so we could relax and take in the beauty of Ireland. We didn’t have to travel each day to find the best view - we were already there! And with Dingle town only 20 minutes away, we took in the fantastic local music and pubs quite a bit as well. We can’t wait for our next return trip. Thank you, Philomena!

One of most beautiful places I've ever stayed!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently rented both of the wonderful stone cottages owned by Philomena on the Dingle Peninsula to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We had five other couples with us and we were all more than comfortable with enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone. The cottages were clean and inviting and had ample cookware and coffee makers and were equipped with wifi and puzzles to help entertain us when we weren't out enjoying the countryside. the main attraction, I can't say enough about how beautiful the view was from our cottage. The location could not have been more ideal for hiking, biking and simply enjoying the amazing scenery. The cottage is literally right across from the Sybil Head peak and the Three Sisters peaks. Most people spend a good portion of their vacation in Ireland trying to find the type of view that we woke up to every morning. Not only was the view incredible, but each morning the bleating of the new lambs came through our open window, which was heaven for this city girl. If it is at all possible, I will go back and will stay in exactly the same place. Philomena and her daughter Sharon were warm and welcoming and made wonderful recommendations for places to eat and local pubs to visit. The village of Ballyferriter was close by with a few cute pubs and a small grocery store. Trip into Dingle was a short drive and was fun for shopping and dining. The stone cottages will remain one of my favorite vacations spots for a very long time and I hope I have the opportunity to see them again!
