This is a holiday let where you can enjoy the privacy of a separate building but have the security of the hosts living on the same property and being happy to assist if needed.
Since July 2018 we are operating as a holiday let, not a B&B, and do not provide any food. We have lowered our prices accordingly.
A two nights minimum stay applies at all times.
'The Keep' is also an ideal retreat for a longer stay. Please check our weekly rate.
Please be aware that we do not cater for children.
For your added security, this property is only managed in Australia and we never request payments be made to overseas bank accounts.
The Keep is a 10 acre country estate located in picturesque Taradale, between the towns of Kyneton and Castlemaine. It is surrounded by bush-land and offers a peaceful environment enhanced by a beautiful garden.
The stone and mud brick buildings are finished to a high standard and create a homely atmosphere with a natural feel.
Relax in the garden, let the peaceful environment wash over you and watch the rich bird life or enjoy a walk in the adjoining bush-land.
Visit the famous Taradale viaduct, explore the Goldfields and the nearby historic towns of Kyneton and Castlemaine, or take the short drive to Maldon, Daylesford or Bendigo.
With pubs and restaurants not far away you can enjoy all the comforts without the noises of staying in town.
The spacious master bedroom offers the comforts of a queen double, reverse cycle air-conditioning and a cosy country atmosphere. The mud brick feature wall adds an earthy element.
The adjoining smaller bedroom has two single beds, reverse cycle air-conditioning and is finished in a similar country style.
The windows offer great views to the garden and are fitted with electrically operated exterior shutters.
Both bedrooms share a compact yet luxurious bathroom with built-in bath tub, separate shower, cedar wall paneling and heat lamps for those cooler days.
The well equipped kitchen includes a dining corner and opens up to a comfortable living area with a gas log fire and air-conditioning.The large lounge room window provides a beautiful view to the garden and landscaped dam.
Smart TV, DVD and wireless internet are provided as well as books, movies and CDs.
The adjoining laundry is fully equipped with washing machine, ironing board and clothes rack.
The spacious entry offers plenty of room for coats and shoes and opens to a verandah overlooking the garden.
With a BBQ, table and chairs, this is an ideal outdoor eating area.
A large gazebo with table and chairs, including deck chairs is there for the exclusive use of our guests. It is next to the cottage and overlooks the water.
The surrounding garden has evolved over many years and, with its European trees, provides a pleasing contrast to the adjoining bush. It has its special charm in each of the four seasons and there are many beautiful spots to sit down and relax.
Watch the wildlife or just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Visit the vegetable garden and check out the greenhouse where we grow our veggies in Earth Boxes (a patented growing system).
