Large self contained 1 bedroom cottage in private location in rainforest setting
Peter and Josephine Harrington
About Peter and Josephine Harrington
Both my husband, Peter and I were born and raised on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria and moved to The Leap in the Mackay Region of Queensland in 1989 to build a business and raise a family. We built Wallaby Cottage in the rainforest area on our small rural acreage in 1993, originally for Peter's mother who especially loved the abundant birdlife, butterflies and native animals that inhabit our neighbourhood, she was also an excellent sitter for our 3 children as they were growing up! After her passing and with our 3 children now grown up and now grandparents ourselves, we have no shortage of visitors coming to stay with us and the cottage is far enough away from the main house for everyone to have their own personal space. We have been letting out the cottage for many years now for travellers and short term stays and enjoy passing on any local knowledge or suggestions of what to see and do when visiting our region to our guests.

Why Peter and Josephine Harrington chose The Leap
We chose to buy this small rural acreage at The Leap as we loved the idea of being surrounded by national park and the privacy of the rainforest, while still being conveniently located to a major rural city (Mackay is 15 minutes away)! It is also located halfway between Mackay and the beachside township of Seaforth and Cape Hillsborough National Park which are beautiful locations and have excellent fishing.

Wallaby Cottage is in a great location for an overnight stay while travelling - ie: a stone's throw from the highway, but far enough that you're not distracted by noise.
Very comfortable and quiet
I always love staying at Wallaby Cottage on edge of rain forest. A very comfortable stopover.
Always a pleasure to have you and your handsome Collie dog, Oscar stay Mike :)
Shady tropical location
Both my Collie dog and I had very comfortable stay again.
