Overview

Photos and Description of this Capitol Hill holiday house

3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath with optional studio apt. with king bed.

This newly renovated 3 bedroom with each having its own bathroom Row House is located in the Capitol Hill Historic District within walking distance to all the DC sights such as US Capitol, US Senate, Washington Monuments, The White House, Union Station, Judicial Building and downtown DC. This house was completely renovated 3 years ago.

It is located in the safest neighborhood of Washington DC, Capitol Hill - Historic District. There are numerous grocery stores, restaurants and high end shopping areas within walking distance.

Capitol Hill Historic District takes its name from the hill, which rises in the center of the Federal City and extends eastward. Stretching easterly behind the Capitol Building along wide avenues lies the residential area known as Capitol Hill.

History of Capital Hill: Capitol Hill, one of the oldest residential communities in Washington, has grown from a small boarding house community for members of Congress to an area of more than 150 squares embracing a number of separate neighborhoods. In the early years of the Republic few Congressmen wished to establish permanent residence in the city. Instead, most preferred to live in boarding houses within walking distance of the Capitol. Nothing remains of this community, and the area closest to the Capitol contains the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, and the House and Senate Office buildings. Capitol Hill is the largest residential historic district in the District of Columbia. Almost every street is composed of row houses of different stylistic varieties and periods forming a continuous wall broken only by street intersections.

The Area: Side by side exist early 19th century manor houses, Federal townhouses, small frame dwellings, ornate Italianate bracketed houses and the late 19th century press brick row houses with their often whimsical decorative elements combining Richardsonian Romanesque, Queen Anne, and Eastlakian motifs. Within the Historic District, you will find the most luxurious accommodation in the one of the best areas in Washington DC with many restaurants, cafes and places to shop, including the Eastern Market, the city's largest farmers' market and flea market.

If available we can provide parking for 1 vehicle at Union Station which is 3 blocks from this rental. It is available on a first come basis.

Please check our other properties 3526541, 3550803 & 4015008 in Capitol Hill with homeaway.com.

If you have a question about our rental please don't hesitate to call Bob Finn at 623-297-8193. I sometimes call the person inquiring about our rental, but am finding that lots of people don't answer their phones these days. I find that it is some times easier to communicate in a phone conversation then it is by email. We want to make sure there is no misunderstanding about the location of our rentals and it amenities. Parking is limited in DC so if you are driving to DC you might want to talk with Bob about some parking solutions.

Great location, basic comfort, it worked for the 5 of us

  • 4 of 5

Having run an inn we know there are always little things one could improve, but the fundamentals were solid. It was a great base from which to enjoy Washington DC. We would recommend it.

Lovely place, great location

  • 5 of 5

The row house was so very convenient for the conference I was attending at the nearby Hyatt. And it was a great spot for walking, beautiful neighborhood, small grocery and restaurants right around the corner. A very short walk to the Supreme Court and the Capitol. And Union Station,, where you can catch the Circulator for $1 to Georgetown.

I cooked breakfast each day. Easy in and out. Clean, well-maintained.

The one caveat... if you aren't up for stairs, this is not for you. The front door is up a steep flight of stairs, and the top bedroom is two more flights up, the kitchen down a flight from the living room.

Perfect place while visiting DC!

  • 5 of 5

This townhouse is in the perfect place when visiting DC. Only about three blocks from the Capitol which made it so easy to get around without a car. Many great little neighborhood restaurants, coffee shops and wine stores. We had 6 adults and one child, and the bedrooms gave everyone enough privacy yet we could all hang out together in the living room too. We always made breakfast and the kitchen was adequate for that purpose. If you were planning on cooking much more than that it might be a little lacking. Super quiet neighborhood and very friendly neighbors. We all agreed that we would love to return!

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect property for touring D.C. This property is equipped with every amenity my own home is! The beds are very comfortable and the home was spotlessly clean. Conveniently located to most major D.C. Attractions. We walked everywhere, but the Metro is only a few blocks away. I highly recommend this property for your DC. visit!

Excellent location and great home

  • 5 of 5

This home is well situated near Union station, the circulator bus (takes you around the museums and monuments for $1 per trip), a supermarket and many lovely restaurants-Romeo and Juliet and the French one were excellent. The location is a very important feature when you want to spend a short amount of time getting to the major attractions.

The home is well appointed with everything you would need for your stay and Bob is a great owner, providing excellent customer service and gives many good suggestions on what to do during your stay. They had the basics in the kitchen to get you started including spices, and they provided dishwashing and laundry liquid.

Beds were comfortable and the lounge room a good size for 6 adults to socialise. The only negative would be the very large chairs around the kitchen table which took up a lot of space.

Would definitely recommend to stay here for a trip to Washington to see the museums and monuments. There are stairs up to all the bedrooms which was fine for us but may be a problem for some travellers.
