Or sit on the veranda deck and watch and listen to wave’s crash on the rocks below.

It is located within easy walking distance of the world renowned Bay of Fires stretch of pristine beach of Binalong Bay, the local boat ramp and Moresco, the innovative local café-restaurant where you can enjoy a leisurely coffee, breakfast, lunch or evening meal with breathtaking views.

Binalong Bay is a great destination for couples, families & groups. With pristine beaches at its door step and surrounded by natural bush, the area offers something for everybody. The region is a bush walker’s paradise, with many tracks beginning almost at the doorstep of Far Horizons. Bird watchers regard the area as a ‘birders’ delight while artists visit to see the beaches and explore the walking tracks in the Humbug Nature preserve.

If you prefer, you can launch your boat from the unique Binalong Boat Harbor Point to enjoy Tasmania's premier game fishing areas or explore the endless white sand and crystal clear waters of the numerous beaches. Book the local tennis court for a hit of tennis down on the waterfront, whilst the children play in the playground and have a BBQ down on the green. Walk down and dine at Moresco Restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner - Tuesday to Sunday.

For those who want more activity take an exciting boat tour with the local Eco Tours to see the pristine and solitary Bay of Fire beaches and famous Eddystone Point Lighthouse. Go surfing on the local beach or snorkeling, kayaking or boating on the local beaches and lagoons. It’s worth noting that Binalong Bay was voted by a well-known travel magazine as the second best beach in the world. For the more adventurous go out diving to see the protected Weedy Sea Dragons or spot some Boar fish.

Jump in the car and take a short 10 minutes’ drive into St Helens where you can visit the galleries, grab a coffee and local cake. Then go visit the Village Providore for a wonderful selection of Tasmanian treats like honey, cheeses, wines or homemade deli items and local meats. Or take a stroll down to the waterfront. If you like golf there is a pleasant little golf course. On the way home drop into Lease 65 for plump local oysters.

For an exciting day trip a short drive takes you to the St Columbia Falls, the Pyengana Cheese Factory and its Holy Cow Café or visit the Pub in the Paddock, the Shop in the Bush, and even the famous Blue Tiers at Poimena for extensive walks including a visit to Halls Falls. The Goblin Forest Walk is rated one of the 50 best walks in Tasmania.

Or drive south along the coast and visit Bicheno, where you can see the blowhole and visit Nature World to meet the cute Tasmanian Devils and lots more wildlife. What about a visit to Wineglass Bay at Freycinet or the wineries and a boutique beer brewery - whatever takes your fancy.

Beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

The house is close to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Located up on a hill with lovely views, it has paths to the beach on one side & trails along a secluded bay on the other. We really enjoyed our stay.
