Warm, cosy, sweet, family friendly cottage!!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the ainslie art house!! Snuggley warm comfy beds... The heated floor in the bathroom was lovely... The heaters were instantaneous... There was everything we needed, the kids had a ball playing soccer in the back garden, & heading over to the great playground equipment across the road or the basketball courts every afternoon. Amazing shops just down the road... A great IGA with a huge range of cheeses... A French restaurant with great cakes & pastries & crepes... we will Definately be back next year for the kanga cup & will be staying at the art house! Loved it!!!

Tranquil and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my two young children and it was a delightful three days. A ten minute walk to cafes and close to the War memorial and Canberra centre. We loved the warm bathroom floor on a cold night and the pianola in the sun room. A wonderful stay and would recommend to anyone considering a stay.

Great property

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at the Ainslie Art House. The location is excellent being in walking distance of Lonsdale Street which is filled with restaurants and cafe. It is also only a short distance to the war memorial and the centre of Canberra. The property was well laid out and maintained with the main bedroom being the highlight. The central heating was effective and quiet and the shower \ bath was great. Would recommend the property particularly if you have kids as there is a park opposite plus a back garden with a multitude of sculptures for them to explore.

Nice but some improvements needed

  • 4 of 5

Having stayed here in Summer 2016 which was such a great experience. We were a little disappointed this time around during the cooler months. The house is central and has a beautiful kid friendly park opposite. It has also been freshly renovated with a new bathroom and has air-conditioning in the main part of the house and central heating throughout. The large rear yard is ideal for dogs and kept our Golden Retriever happy during our stay. The house is also equipped with basic essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar and soap etc.

Since our last stay the house appears to have shifted meaning no internal doors would close let alone lock, as such the children could access the kitchen and crockery in the open face kitchen cupboard. The bathroom door would not close or lock either meaning you had no privacy and people could just walk in. The bathroom window was locked shut and fresh air could not be let in.

The main bed is firm although it has begun to sag.

The central heating was fantastic on the cooler nights, however the whole house creaked every time the heating cut in and out waking everyone in the house leading to us having to switch it off.

We recommend this place to our family and friends as it is beautifully renovated and only 2 blocks from the City. If the above mentioned items were rectified it would have made this stay as enjoyable as the last.

Owner's Response: Dubious Review From Deceitful Guest Please read the above review in the following light: This guest arrived with additional people that he did not inform us about and did not want to pay for. This sadly led to an uncomfortable negotiation, and it seems some resentment as they left the house in poor condition and wrote this sad review – the first negative review we have had in two years across two booking sites. We're happy to provide further details but please be reassured that the heating is great, all doors close, the bathroom has great ventilation, the bed is hotel quality and doesn't sag! And finally the central heating is excellent and very quiet. Read the other reviews or contact us.
