About Owner

The owners are far from typical, and believe that vacation home designing is an art extending way beyond the material selection and finishes found in a typical home. Aurora Point has marble bathrooms, lighted etched-glass artworks, gas fireplaces and jacuzzis -- and that is just in the master suites, but it also is an entertainment complex, purposely designed for family and group reunions of all ages and in all seasons! Before drafting the house, we blueprinted the fun for every activity, and part of our think-tank process was considering where adults and children of each age group would congregate while together and on their own.

Why Owner chose West Virginia

We specialize in building vacation properties with jaw-dropping views in quintessential locations. The structure sits up high on a point, where ski slopes and horse and bike trails form around it on both sides. You actually have to drive over a ski slope bridge to get to its location in the center of Timberline Ski Mountain. There are wide open ski slopes below it also, so from this unique perch, guests enjoy a clear view all the way down the mountain to the lake and valley below.

This lot gave us goosebumps when we first saw it, and we believe that it is the nicest location in Canaan Valley.

What makes this estate unique

You may never have to move your car while here, because guests can ski-in, ski-out, mountain bike-in, mountain bike-out, ride horses by the house, and we provide a limo golf cart to get to the lodge restaurant, tennis courts and convenience store in the spring, summer and fall.

Beautiful Chalet

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful. There was 9 of us that stayed there. We were amazed how big and spacious the house was. It had everything we needed. What a great way to relax after along day of riding in the beautiful West Virginia Mts. We will definitely rent this again.

Best ski trip ever!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying here with 3 other families. We had 8 adults and 12 children and it was amazing! The property was even more magnificent than the pictures showed. The house was spotless when we arrived and the owner responded within 1-2 hours when I had a question. The kids couldn't wait to get off the slopes and back to the house at the end of the day. The kitchen was incredible with plenty of seating for all of us at meal time. I would highly recommend this property to those with big groups. Our boys and dads couldn't get enough of the big screen televisions and gaming system for Xbox! We can't wait to book it again next year!!!

Absolutely an

  • 5 of 5

We, 12 of us, from Baltimore Md., Nashville Tenn., Cincinnati Oh. And Columbus Oh. Met there for a brothers and sisters get together. From the time we arrived, we were all amazed at the house and location. The house is beautiful, amazing layout, wonderfully equipped. The bedrooms w/baths were great and large. The TV's were everywhere and the 16 foot equipment in the upstairs tv room and the visual room downstairs were unreal. The house was spotless and clean throughout and supplied with lots of towels, robes and slippers. The large outdoor hot tub was a big hit even Saturday with the snow.

Be prepared to see deer everywhere and the ski slopes run right by the house. When we left, all agreed we are coming back. We are oldsters and do not ski but we enjoyed the privacy of the house to relax without being right beside others. If the weather had been a little warmer, we would have been playing golf. We went and looked at a great course.

Probably the best place we have ever gone to be together.

Fun with friends for 40th!!

  • 5 of 5

In celebration of my husband's 40th birthday, we rented Aurora Point with a group of friends, including kids ranging from infant to 8 years old. An amazing time was had by all! The house is exactly as promised in the video, perfect for group fun! Even with uncooperative weather, we had great fun just hanging out at the house. The kids loved the shadow room, and the adults loved hanging out in the kitchen and all the luxurious touches. Property management was easy to deal with and the view was out of this world. We'd go back in a heartbeat!

Destination Wedding Weekend w/Family and Friends

  • 5 of 5

This place was the perfect place for family and friends to get together and enjoy a extended weekend. We enjoyed the whole house, there was never a dull moment. It was plenty big enough for 19 people. Multiple stories for people to either dance/use shadow theatre and/or play pool/play video games. Beautiful scenery at the chair lift at Timberline. Golfing and Clay Target Shooting at the resort. We had our wedding at Golden Anchor Restaurant, beautiful setting and it even snowed on our wedding day. Overall a great time and brought two families together with memories we will always remember. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration/Canaan Valley

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 17 recently stayed in Canaan Valley with ages ranging from our 95 year old Mother down to our 7 year old grandson. We were celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary!!

Our youngest son suggested ...."staying under one roof"...for the gathering. It couldn't have been more perfect.

The lovely mountainside home was perfect for all of us with the kitchen/gathering room/deck and hot tub on the upper level with amazing views of the valley and lake. Below were fabulous master bedrooms and a great theater/game room.

Our days were filled with many excursions...Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks, white water rafting, horseback riding, golf and turtle rides along with chair lift rides at the nearby state parks. A great time was had by all!!

The "older folks" could travel to all these places and leave the hiking to the younger folks.

Each family took a night to prepare dinner...including family favorites from the past 50 years. We brought our own food but did find a local/regional shop for some last minute items.

The nearby town of Thomas was cute with a nice restaurant called "Tip Top"....serving local fare.

It was a perfect place for us to celebrate our 50th.....with lasting memories for all....in beautiful West Virginia!!!

Attractions and amenities that may be out of service or need repair during your stay

Our dream homes have a great deal of electronics and equipment such as hot tubs, computers, wireless routers, theaters, cable TV, bubble hockey, TVs, stereos, fireplaces, etc. These items receive about 20 times the use of products in a typical home. In many ways our homes are like an amusement park that may occasionally have an attraction that is out. We buy quality items, keep them maintained and buy service contracts on them but we do not guarantee them and unfortunately they are not immune to breakdowns and occasionally need repairs. We keep spares of some items, call repairmen immediately, but will NOT provide refunds if an amenity is not working due to circumstances beyond our control.

INTERNET SPEED

We buy the fastest internet speeds available but since our homes are in remote locations, it will be slower than you are used to at home and others in your party may have to log-off all devices to stream audio and video such as Netflix.
