Location and Attractions

Cookinburra Park is located in the beautiful Indigo Valley and the property is surrounded by rural charm.

Situated in the centre of popular local attractions you are five minutes from the start of the Rutherglen wine region or 20 minutes to historical towns. It is a great location to have a day trip to the snowfields, with Falls Creek and Mt Buffalo being only one and a half hours away.

If you feel like exploring the 130acre property there is a number of different animals you may see along the way, including kangaroos, wallabies, chickens, sheep, mini goats, cows and horses both big and small and even a Camel.

Your hosts are more than happy for you to come along with them and get up and close with the animals, you can help feed the animals, check if the chickens have laid some eggs or help groom the animals. There is plenty of time for patting the animals as well. If you would like to help out on the farm, there may be some chores to do like collecting firewood, feeding out hay, and even helping out with the sheep herding.

The farm has a large dam where you can try your hand at yabbying or try to strike it rich by gold panning in Frying Pan Creek that runs through the property. You can explore a little further with a bushwalk in Chiltern / Mt Pilot National park or bring your own boat and spend a day at the Hume Weir or the Murray River fishing or water skiing.

Whether you are planning a relaxing holiday for two, family holiday, girls’ weekend to the wineries or a boy’s trip with a difference, Cookinburra Park has a charm that all ages can enjoy.

N.B - Please note that farm experience and camp fire are only available for stays of 2 nights or more. Any stays for one night are accommodation only.

A great family getaway.

  • 5 of 5

We only had a couple of days stay but the owners Michael & Dot were wonderful. They were kind & helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They included the kids in feeding the farm animals & even helped the kids make damper in the outside fire. Happy to stop for a chat, we felt really welcome.

Such a gem!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here two years in a row and this year will be the third booking. Cannot fault the house, upon arrival after 9 hours in a car, during winter, the fire was roaring and inviting. The house is stocked with everything you need for a short or long stay... it feels just like home! Comfortable beds, hot showers and the most amazing outlook from the front verandah in the winter time lapping up the sun. The man cave is a big draw card, and our kids have really loved being made feel included in the daily feedings of the animals by property owners.. The privacy and serenity of the property really makes you feel a million miles away, though being so close to Albury/Wodonga, Beechworth and surrounds is extremely convenient for day trips.. the local pub 5 mins up the road is great for nights you don't want to cook! Gold panning in the creek and riding the bikes kept the kids amused for hours. Can't wait to spend another two weeks at our favourite holiday destination again in 2017!

Wonderful holiay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a wonderful three days on the farm. The bungalow is perfectly situated and you can really enjoy the country life style. Michael and Dot were fantastic and no request was too much for them. Michael even managed to get us a bottle of Indigo Gold. They were very thoughtful and kept a welcome pack with some amazing local products. The bungalow is pet friendly and even our Border Collie, Brocky enjoyed the wide open spaces. Thank you Michael and Dot for a lovely stay and sure we will be back.

Wonderful farm stay

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property to spend a long weekend. The house was spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for our two families. The kids (5 and 2 yrs old) loved the farm and feeding the chickens, ducks, sheep, goat, horses, immature ponies and a camel! Also had a great separate cabin for relaxing with bar, pool table, darts, DVDs. Very friendly hosts (in separate house) completed the atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend!
