Overview

About the property

Since its public offering in October 2014 , Almost every week end has been rented out, The house has proved to be a great success for extended families, for families who wish to entertain their overseas guests or relatives or just for a great family holiday to spend some quality time with family or friends. Their is something to do for all ages with no more to spend. No worries about getting lifts to pubs, clubs and wasting time looking for somewhere to go or something to do or watching the budget when hiring boats kayaks fishing etc. The house has it all included in the price.

Why hire a place in the city with great views and then spend hours outside fighting traffic, spending big on bar prices/restaurants etc and then come back to your hired place at 2 am and not take the opportunity to make use of the highly priced rental and its views. Ok if you got harbor views and its new years eve I will forgive you for that night. All the other nights of the year Bar point is just as pretty and one could imagine how Sydney harbor looked like before it became commercial

(sorry no MacDonald's on Bar point)

More than 300 people have gone through this house advertised on only two sites and I have received great reviews.. Thank you.

I am not offering accommodation…I am offering a lifestyle/ holiday resort that only the very rich can afford but who don’t have the time to enjoy it.

For the advertised price you get.

A four bedroom house with linen supplied

2 Kayaks

Over 100 DVD’s

A floating Island swimming pool “thing” (see photos)

Internet

A 6 burner gas BBQ An enclosed back yard for your pets

Fully equipped kitchen

NEW: Buggie and cart to assist bringing your stuff from boat to house

too many things to mention

For an additional AUD 150 cash a 5.0 m boat with 15hp Motor

Assuming you are lucky enough to know some millionaire who will give you their holiday house FREE for a weekend, You will still be more out of pocket if you had to hire the kayaks, wash the linen farm out the dogs to kennels, pay for fire wood and leave a small gift to say “thank you” and live with the debt that you may feel you owe them…

Don’t bother.. You don’t need them anymore.. You have it all at my house...and to annoy them, just invite them for a BBQ.. You can even offer to pick them up on my boat..!! And if you are generous enough let them stay overnight telling them they don’t have to wash the linen when they leave.

Unfortunately it still cost quite a bit to stay here (and will stay so until my bank manager lets me off my mortgage repayments…don’t hold your breath), however if you take the cost of heating your house, going to restaurants, kennelling the dogs etc from the cost and divide the remainder (if any) between 2 full families, 4 couples or 8 friends you will realise just what good value you are getting.

No cars on the "island", no traffic no smog just pure air and great views.. The front yard is the river where you can fish ski kayak ... The immediate back yard is enclosed and comes with an outdoor shower, BBQ and a Huge fire pit. On the other side of the backyard is the Popran National park where you can hike ,walk down the only road (or path) Kalinda road, get some free fire wood or just take in the nature. If the bush is a bit rough for you then walk on the grassed reserve in front of the house which is more of an extended garden than a reserve. Visit the local Post office and see how post offices were some centuries back (open 24/7) You can even fish from the post office when the postman has gone.

Visit the historic Bar island with the church ruins and grave stones (boat access only) or simply explore the waterways with your boat or mine.

Now for something different How often have you gone shopping or to restaurant by boat??? Now is your opportunity with numerous shops, restaurants and bars that can be accessed by boat.

There is something for all. All you have to do is book early to ensure no disappointments

Getting there

The house may as well be on an island as it can only be accessed from the water. The nearest car park is at Mooney Mooney.

Mooney Mooney is under 1 hour from Sydney, on the F3, just after crossing the Hawkesbury River Bridge. Turn left and proceed approximately 200 metres to a roundabout, turn left and proceed to the car park or advertised “rest area”. The newly renovated car park has plenty of parking for your car

The car park is aptly labelled as " Rest Area" This is where you leave your car and all your stresses and worries behind. From here on its just holiday time... But you still have a 15 min boat trip to get to the house. Think of it as arriving overseas and catching a taxi to your hotel

IF YOU DONT HAVE A BOAT/JET SKI or KAYAK

No Sweat you can hire a water taxi, catch the postman ferry at AUD 20 per person (Mon to Friday from Brooklyn at 10:00 daily

Don’t forget the house has a boat available so only need one or two persons to get to the house to fetch the boat to pick up the rest

IF YOU HAVE A BOAT/JET SKI or KAYAK

At the Mooney Mooney car park there is newly built boat ramp and plenty of space to leave your car and trailer.

If your boat is not on a trailer, then no sweat as well.. The Hawkesbury flows into the sea with its mouth at Palm Beach.. A great trip from anywhere including Sydney harbour and the Parramatta river

The house has a 1/3 ownership of a private jetty and can easily accommodate up to a 7 meter boat. Any bigger you may have to anchor a bit out to sea and use my boat to taxi to the house or arrange with Peates Bite restaurant to moore there. (Peates bite restaurant is directly across the river from the house)

IF YOU DONT HAVE A CAR OR A BOAT

Still no excuse… Catch the train to the Hawkesbury river station and catch a water taxi or the postman ferry 20 meters from the station

Fantastic experience

  • 4 of 5

Our girls weekend was thoroughly enjoyable for a number of reasons. One, David the owner was an enthusiastic and relaxed owner who communicated well with us prior to and during our stay. Two, the house was a comfortable cosy spot to unwind sitting around the wood fire with a glass of wine, the kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfy, the view from house superb - the constantly changing atmosphere of the river a delight to watch. Three, the natives are friendly happy to engage in a chat if you run into them on a walk. Four, the boat - what an adventure for us, easy for complete novices to drive even in the awful weather we encountered - we had many laughs at ourselves. Would highly recommend this house and owner. Many thanks.

Serenity

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at David's place on the Hawkesbury.

The vistas are spectacular, as was the fishing for my husband John.

The kids loved stargazing at night, exploring the bush, going in the boat for trips to the Pittwater and 'Summer Bay'-as seen in the television show, Home and Away. You could walk up to the lighthouse at Barrenjoey too or a lovely coffee at The Beach House! We explored the various coves-to find many perfect water-skiing/wakeboarding areas.

Back at the house, we all loved sitting on the jetty at various times of the day/evening. The kids loved building their own fire at night in the excellent fire-pit David has in the backgarden.

You could use the kayaks made available.

David is a wonderful host. As it was the Easter long-weekend, he was very kind to collect us from the Hawkesbury River station and Mooney Mooney and return us at the end of our stay.

We were able to hire his bigger boat, which was very safe and useful in exploring the area.

The house has all that is needed for a comfortable, country stay in a very exclusive part of the world-not very far from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet a delightful, serene break.

Had an amazing weekend with some mates.

Dave was so helpful in facilitating all the gear. Went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time.

The scenery is amazing and the water activities are top notch.

Couldnt recommend it more.

A real escape

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week over Christmas in this property, and had a truly wonderful time. It is a real getaway from day to day life and the location, accessible only by boat, is what makes it so special. We used almost all of the facilities on offer (kayaks, boat, floating "relaxation station", fishing gear and so on) and were able to explore lots of this beautiful part of the Hawkesbury. Highly recommended for adults and kids alike!

Owner's Response: Thanks Pat Appreciate your comments. I want to host a holiday house with all the things you would normally have to go and hire all at your fingertips and free of charge (or included in the price). Nothing worse than spending your holidays taking kids here and there, waiting in ques , Everybody pulling you this way and that way. Here you can guard the kids from the balcony, watch them fish or looking for crabs while sipping on a cocktail or catching up on the footy score. Now included in the deal is a 150cc Buggie to help bring up all the food/drinks from the jetty.
