A Hidden Gem!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here over the Anzac Weekend and had a relaxing stay. Ken & Kay our hosts couldn't do enough for us and were easy to deal with. It was a lovely surprise to find breakfast items in the fridge once we arrived. Canterbury Cottage is situated on the edge of the Shannon National Park so you are surrounded by beautiful tall karri trees, bird life, peace and quiet. Kay is a keen gardener and has a beautiful garden that you can relax in or have a drink overlooking the avocado trees. To get to the cottage you do have to travel down an unsealed track and it is about 20 minutes from Northcliffe. We really enjoyed our stay - thanks Ken & Kay!

Wonderful property - lovely hosts

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic stay - great for the kids. Even though the booking that we made prior was an oversight by the hosts, they did a wonderful job in accommodating us and making things very enjoyable. The kids got to pick blueberries, walk throughout the farm areas and see the cattle the next day. Thank you to the hosts for making things lovely.

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful location, roomy and very comfortable cottage. Every facility you could wish for. One of the prettiest gardens you will see. Wonderful hosts who took time to chat about their farm... and wonderful walk around the farm. Thoroughly recommend this to anyone, would be great for a young family also.

Quality comfortable Getaway

  • 5 of 5

A quality self contained cottage. A fantastic location to relax and unwind.

Ken and Kay have made a warm and welcoming cottage and the stocking of the fridge for you to have a great cooked breakfast at your leisure is a lovely gesture.

Kay's garden is something see experience and enjoy. If you want somewhere to sit and read that book you've been putting off then this is the spot, you could spend hours reading and watching the antics of the local bird life that are abundant.

Some thing you need to know. The road turns into a gravel road for about 15km. There was a massive bush fire early in the year so there are road repairs and grading on the road and other tracks in the area so there will be trucks on the road. Just drive to the conditions and use common sense. The truck drivers know you are there and look out for you they where using ch 31 uhf radio if you have one.

We noticed that the flys were starting to get friendly at this time of the year and I imagine they will get friendlier in summer. There is no avoiding this and any rural area will be the same. Just something to consider in the warmer months.

Because you are 18.5 km from town, driving in for an evening meal didn't appeal to me so we used the BBQ and enjoyed the bird life with a beer or glass of wine as the sun set.

I will love to stay again at Canterbury Cottage.
