About this property

"The Dome" overlooking Middle Harbour

"The Dome" was designed by Stan Symonds and built in the early 1960's. It has been featured in Architectural publications and exhibitions, such as Form to Formless at Sydney's Customs House. Tim Ross performed one of his "Man About The House" shows here. The Dome has been restored to its former 60's modernist glory and is fully furnished and equipped.

SPECIAL UPDATE - The Dome has currently been empty for over 48 hours. We use strict cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Linen and towels are hot washed. All surfaces are disinfected.

The Dome is available for short to medium term stays year round. We are very flexible and aim to accommodate all requests. Out Rate and Nightly Minimum may vary during peak seasons. At present we have a 7 night minimum.

The property has a dome ceiling, double storey floor to ceiling glass and unique mezzanine design. Upstairs comprises entrance room and 2 bedrooms (main with Queen and second with King Single with full mattress trundle that converts to Kingsize bed), both with balconies and extensive water and bushland views. There is also a study, walk in wardrobe and full bathroom upstairs. There is some flexibility with the King Single trundle, allowing either the study or entry room to be converted into a third small bedroom.

A spiral staircase leads downstairs to large open plan dining with Parker table comfortably seating 8 - 10 and sunken lounge area with 48" flatscreen TV and Bose sound system. Apple TV is provided, with Netflix and Stan. There is a glass fronted combustion fireplace, reverse cycle air-conditioning, gas heater and electric heater. The fully equipped kitchen features Bosch appliances, dishwasher and a seperate pantry room. The kitchen is generously supplied with plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses and platters for entertaining. There is also a laundry with Bosch frontloading washing machine and a separate second toilet.

Glass sliding doors open onto tiled outside entertaining area with long table and benches seating up to 12. The stainless steel BBQ has four burners plus a side burner. Enjoy a soak under the Himalayan Magnolia tree in the outside inflatable spa.

The tiled area flows to a securely fenced grassed lawn and outside pond area. The pond is a feature of "The Dome", with an interior section allowing viewing and feeding of the resident Carp and Native Bass.

Views from The Dome are spectacular, encompassing surrounding bushland and across to Sugarloaf Bay and Middle Harbour.

This peaceful bushland setting, with its many native bird species, is only 40 minutes from Sydney CBD and 10 minutes from Manly and its ocean and harbour beaches.

Undercover parking is provided for 2 cars.

Take the free Hop Skip bus to Stocklands Shopping Centre Balgowlah, then
onto Manly or Clontarf. The city can be reached by ferry from Manly or by bus from the Wakehurst Parkway only 5 minutes walk away. There is also the Bline City Bus Service operating from nearby Manly Vale with parking.

Seaforth local shops offer an excellent dining selection, or head to Manly for even more choice.

Walk 5 mins up the road to a well equipped, shaded children's Playground with picnic table.

Bushwalk from Seaforth Oval down to Bantry Bay, Wakehurst Parkway down to Manly Dam, The Spit to Manly via Dobroyd or explore the tidal areas around Middle Harbour.

There are also Bike Tracks to Manly, and Mountain Bike Tracks down to and around Manly Dam.

Fairlight and Dellwood Beaches (in Sydney Harbour) are accessible by bus or a 10 minute drive and both excellent for snorkelling - as is Shelley Beach (Cabbage Tree Bay) in Manly.

New Years Eve Fireworks are held in Manly Cove, with many vantage points along the harbourside.

Unfortunately, due to the open balcony mezzanine bedrooms and unfenced internal pond, "The Dome' is unsuitable for toddlers.

We look forward to welcoming you to "The Dome".

A Magic Spot
Such a special place to stay. Seaforth as a suburb is located close to everything and a wonderful family suburb. We feel very fortunate to have had such a special holiday in that magic position. Thank you for sharing your amazing property.

A wonderful place
We stayed at The Dome over Christmas and had a delightful week. It was like living in a modernist treehouse. The house is an architectural gem, beautifully built and perfectly made for living, and its physical location above Middle Harbour is lovely; its design has been completely matched to its environment. The circular form, open-plan design and full-length windows mean that the house is always bathed in light, and from virtually everywhere inside there are extensive outside views. The living space extends effortlessly to the garden with outside seating, table and barbecue, and dress circle views of Middle Harbour. From the bedrooms upstairs, especially the main, the views are eyrie-like - the treehouse effect. You're likely to be woken by birdsong and birdcalls - mobs of cockatoos, many kookaburras, parrots, etc. The beautiful angophora deserves special mention, and the hosts have thoughtfully installed an uplight for the evening effect. The facilities are all great - simple and good to use; the kitchen has everything including a good pantry and all the tools and dishes you could need; a lovely bathroom upstairs etc. The hosts are very nice. We didn't want to leave.

Highly Recommended
In January we stayed at The Dome and had a wonderful experience. The view from The Dome is beautiful, the interior is gorgeous, the home owner is fantastic and very welcoming! Only a short drive to manly, a stunning area, with Ferries to the city and other iconic places you may wish to visit! We will be visiting again :)

Highly recommended
I regularly visit Sydney on business and I am delighted to have discovered The Dome. The property is oozing with character and is one of the best I have stayed in. A lot of thought has gone into the design and the house is spacious and airy. The Dome is tucked away in its own enclave offering excellent privacy. A car is essential but Manly and the ferry into the city are only minutes away from Seaforth, which is an attractive and quiet suburb.
