Excellent local buys and souvenirs include jewelry made from Opals, Gold and Pearls which are all sourced locally in Western Australia.

According to author Bill Bryson ,Perth is the most remote City in the world and has a population of approximately 1.97 million. The State of Western Australia (WA) is approximately 3.5 times the size of Texas and is the second largest state in the world (half the size of Europe), Western Australia’s sunny climate has shaped some of the world’s most bio diverse landscapes.

From the Mediterranean climate in the south, desert in the east and tropical conditions in the north, WA can confidently claim to be the rarest of things – a year-round holiday destination.

The average maximum summer temperature is 29°C, and February is generally the hottest month. Temperatures hover around 12°C in winter (June to August).

Additional Location Information

Perth is Australia's only capital city where you can enjoy the beach lifestyle, relax in natural bushland, sample world-class local wines and watch an ocean sunset within just 30 minutes of the city. It's also the sunniest state capital, averaging 3,000 hours of sunshine per year and boasting a string of 19 beautifully clean and uncrowded beaches, from iconic Cottesloe to the surf hotspot of Scarborough.

Regular flights to Perth depart from overseas, all state capitals and many regional locations, landing you just 20 minutes from the central business district. For more exciting ways to get there, how about a ride on the legendary Indian Pacific rail, an epic road trip across the Nullarbor, or a summer cruise off the coast.

Situated beside the Swan River, Perth is a living picture postcard, with the best views of all from Kings Park and Botanic Garden - one of the biggest inner-city parks in the world. Larger than New York's Central Park, there are so many ways to enjoy its 400-plus hectares of sculpted gardens and natural bushland. Stroll the treetop walk, take an Indigenous cultural tour, picnic among the gum trees and in Spring, see the wildflowers in bloom.

Another city icon is the Swan Bells, which fills the air with sounds from one of the largest musical instruments on Earth. From there, you can hop on the free bus to museums, art galleries and the Perth Mint - home to the world's greatest collection of gold bars.

There's also plenty of retail therapy on offer. The high-end fashion boutiques of King Street make it the place to be seen. The Murray and Hay Street malls are where you'll find the big brands, or for some eclectic vibes, head to Northbridge, Mount Lawley, Leederville, Subiaco or Victoria Park.

Take a lazy lunch by the river or beachside and enjoy the fresh fusion flavours of Perth's many cafes, restaurants and new small bars.

Jump on a ferry to South Perth to take in that sensational skyline. It's spectacular at night, when the glittering lights are reflected on the river.

Nicely appointed house but with little extra bits

  • 3 of 5

David's house was nicely furnished and modern. The house was for sale when we stayed but this didn't impact our stay. Also the house next door was under construction but again, this didn't impact our stay. While the house was nice and modern it lacked some of the niceties that some houses have such as extra towels or duvets for cold nights (these were locked away!). It had no condiments either (no sugar) so making a cup of coffee required a visit to the shops. There were other little annoyances like only 3 dish washing tablets and no dishcloths to wash the dishes. Although we have central heating/cooling in our house, no amount of button pushing or emailing to the host could get the temperature to warm up. In my job I do a lot of travel and stay at these types of houses for work and for leisure regularly. This house was probably the least well appointed of the ones I've stayed in this year however it is still a fairly nice property and the pool would be good in summer. The fact that the focus of the house was on sale rather than rental probably explains the lack of niceties.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Most guests recognise that the house is self-catered, although we do leave complimentary tea, coffee and milk for our guests, I apologise if we forgot to leave sugar, looking on the bright side, the stuffs no good for you. I have had the reverse cycle air conditioning serviced and the technician assures me that it’s working correctly. We do leave instructions on how to use it; I will review these and see if I can simplify them. We also left complimentary dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, dishcloths and tea towels sufficient for four guests and a five-day stay. There were also 12 towels, 8 pool towels and a washing machine for your use. With regards to the guest to host communication, we received one email from you saying you were unable to work out the heating system, I promptly replied in the hope that we could resolve the issue, however you did not reply to that or my subsequent email, portraying the illusion that you had no issues with your stay.

Amazing Villa and pool very close to the beach.

  • 5 of 5

We couldnt believe how close to the beach this was. The owner David said that we would be able to hear the ocean and we could. Our family really enjoyed the property with pool table, swiming pool and plenty of space. We will definitely come back. David is very easy to deal with and happy to provide local information. A great basef or exploring Perth and surrounding areas.
