Did the job for us
The lock up garage was the most important feature as we were travelling by 4WD and needed to park it up within walking distance of Adelaide central. The garage door is 2.0m high, a little too low for our roof rack, so we unloaded it and let down our tyres to nearly flat to facilitate entry. No problem, but we could get no prior info on this critical measurement. (By the way, the garage is quite dirty and needs a good sweep out). A power point in the garage was a plus as we could keep our car fridges going.
The garage is even more important as there is no parking in Grace Place or Collins St and no unrestricted parking elsewhere.
the upstairs balcony is a pleasant place for an evening drink and meal.
the back door is fitted with a deadlock (useful in a semi commercial semi residential area), but no key is provided
the furniture is different to that shown in your photo and some of it is not matching = chairs etc
reading lamps in the main bedroom would be welcome
darker curtains in the main bedroom would cut out a lot of city light and better for sleeping
there is a tripping hazard when entering through the brush gate. Tall people or people carrying things in front of them can get caught. As it is a cement paver set on its side, very painful if wearing open shoes etc
Overall, it did the job for us, but is certainly in need of a bit of TLC
Geoff and Dolly
Dear Dolly, I do find it frustrating to read some of the points you raise such as light getting int the bedroom disrupting sleep. We have installed 100% block out holland blinds behind the curtains which if you had pulled down would have totally blackened the room. You must not have seen them!
Also all our keys including the deadlock are keyed the same. You were told this so if you wished to use the extra security of the deadlock you did have the option to do so as you were supplied with a key.
Yes we have recently upgraded our lounge suite and are waiting for a photographer to take new pictures of our improved decor.
Finally we provide a single standard size lock up garage in the CBD. A coverted feature itself. I am glad that by letting a little air out of the tyres of your huge Toyota Land Cruiser complete with roof racks you were able to fit it into the garage and and use the power points there for your fridges.
Thank you for your review.
Great location with everything you need
The property is nestled away in the CBD, in a quiet location. The free city loop connector bus is only a 5 minute walk. The townhouse is well appointed with all you could need for a family stay. The two bedrooms are an excellent size and the open plan living area with separate toilet were great features. The secure garage, whilst not directly accessible from the property, was a good size and our SUV was easily able to fit. We would definitely recommend to others and stay here again.
Thank you Trudy for your kind words. We would love it if you visited us again.
Great Location, close to Central Market, China Town and Parks
Property was in an excellent location, within walking distance to Central Market, China town and some great cafes. The property was clean, tidy and great AC during some hot days and nights. Great that the property had a garage and even though we have an SUV, we were able to fit it in the garage. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a city experience, that is travelling with a pet and enjoys cafes and markets all within walking distance.
Thank you for staying with us. We do appreciate your kind words and would love to see you again
Booked because photos presented a clean, well maintained townhouse in great location, and reviews mostly supported this.
Based on what we observed on arrival, photos are possibly what property looked like 5+ years ago. With wear and tear, DIY painting, poor outdoor maintenance, downgraded furniture, general untidiness/clutter, substandard cleaning, and poor presentation, photos do not represent property in its current condition.
- Different furniture (1 black leather-look couch with loose strap underneath, 1 brown fabric couch; rectangle glass topped table 3 chairs same, 1 different)
- paint and scuff marks, dust, bugs on skirting boards, walls and floors
- area under stairs cluttered (high chair, trundle bed, portacot, extra chair)
- shelves under stairs not dusted or tidied
- crumbs and marks on kitchen counter
- laundry powder spilled over washing machine
- cobwebs on wall of downstairs toilet, empty toilet roll sitting on top
- stair banister white (not wood as in photos)
- skirting boards at top of stairs and in main bedroom coated in dust
- mould in bathroom grout on floor and in shower alcove
- hairs in the soap dish and on bathmat
- picture on wall of master bedroom damaged
- light in master bedroom is a bare bright bulb
- curtains have marks/stains and fluff all over them
- bed head different from that pictured
- towels in a pile on side table, none matching, most with bleach marks.
We contacted the property manager soon after arriving outlining our concerns and provided photos. We were so disappointed we requested a discount and a refund of our security deposit to afford alternate accommodation, though this was declined.
As always, we were respectful of the neighbours; cleaned up after ourselves and our dog; were careful to remove everything from fridge, bathroom and bedroom (only spaces we used); returned the garage key to same place we found it; took all rubbish from house and put it in the outside bins; and secured gate behind us. We took photos to verify this (as we usually do).
Four days after departing, we were informed that our security deposit was withheld for “Broken window, damage to lounge”. I contacted the property manager to dispute this, and was accused not only of causing this alleged damage, but also of extortion, manipulation, trying to get a ‘free holiday’ and being entitled.
Mind boggling, upsetting and overall disappointing experience.
No one by your name booked this property. I become suspicious if someone needs to use an alias however I do know who you are.
We were shocked by your demands for compensation accompanied by veiled threats regarding the review you would leave shortly after your arrival. The property was cleaned by our usual cleaner and checked prior to your arrival and none of the claims you made were noted. We did advise you that we would not be providing you with a free holiday in the Christmas week which included New Years eve.
Of course we were very suspicious when you requested your security deposit be refunded at the beginning of your stay and not at the end as per usual practice. The broken window alone exceeded the refundable damage deposit.
We also took photos and provided receipts for repairs to Home Away who found in our favour and refunded the bond to us so that our future guests can enjoy our property in the way it was presented to you.
Close to public transport. Place was clean and comfortable. All amenities were there. 3 pubs, supermarket and restaurant in easy walking distance.
