Originally an old deli/ liquor store, then the local post office, this riverside shop/house has undergone a clever architectural renovation.

Downstairs there is a huge open-plan living space with polished concrete flooring, 13 ft ceilings & cafe concertina doors to the outside courtyard. A feature of the space is the Morso fireplace & original, restored mid-century Parker furniture. The kitchen has stainless steel Smeg appliances with gas cooking, granite bench tops, Nespresso coffee machine, quality china/ cutlery & large pantry. There is a separate laundry (washer & dryer, cordless iron), elaborately wallpapered to create a boudoir feel (sorry but washing is so boring).

There are 2 queen bedrooms, one up, one down giving great privacy. Downstairs, the bedroom features polished floor boards, ornamental fireplace & overlooks the private front garden.

Upstairs is the master bedroom with full ensuite shower/ separate bath, ceiling fan, & Juliette balcony with french doors. All bedding is 100% cotton sheets with down or wool doonas. And there are plenty of pillows.

There is gym upstairs with step machine, cycle & weight machine.

Given Adelaide's beautiful Mediterranean climate, the house has a Vergola-covered downstairs courtyard with gas BBQ & outdoor furniture.

Small clean-living canines (non-barking and non-chewing) are considered. A $50 cleaning fee applies for all canine stays to ensure dog hair is removed for future guests.

Guests will have access to all the house has to offer. There is free WIFI & garage parking for one car. There is plenty of free street parking out the front. Free bikes are available for use during your stay with helmuts and bike locks (his & hers).

The Old Corner Store was absolutely perfect for our 6 day stay. The house was beautifully furnished, clean and a nice mix of modern, vintage, quirky and industrial. We were given great information about getting around town and check in/out were easy. It was a nice walk through the neighbourhood to get to the Botanical gardens where WOMADelaide was held. 10 out of 10 experience, will definitely come back again when in Adelaide.

The week I spent at The old corner house was just perfect. The house offers a lot of facilities, is very clean, quiet and very nice. You have everything you need to cook, wash your clothes, and so on. Everything is made in order you have a beautiful stay, including some advice to organize your visits and some local help (thanks a lot Karen !) if needed. I really enjoyed my breakfast in the garden in the morning sunshine for example... It is rather close to the city (possible to walk if you like ot but also to bike or to take the bus easily). I really hope it will be possible for me to come back. One of my best experience renting a house !
