Traditional Adelaide sandstone meets minimalist modern architectural conversion ...

Originally the Gilberton Post Office & General Store, this riverside shop/house has undergone a clever architectural renovation.

Downstairs there is a huge open-plan living space with polished concrete flooring, 13 ft ceilings & cafe concertina doors to the outside courtyard. A feature of the space is the Morso fireplace & restored mid-century Parker furniture. The kitchen has stainless steel Smeg appliances with gas cooking, granite bench tops, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, quality china/ cutlery & large pantry. There is a separate laundry (washer & dryer, cordless iron).

Upstairs is the Master Bedroom with full ensuite shower/ separate bath, ceiling fan, & Juliette balcony with french doors.

Downstairs is a Twin Bedroom (convertible to a King as required). The downstairs bedroom features polished floor boards, ornamental fireplace & overlooks a private front garden.

All bedding is 100% cotton sheets with down or wool doonas. And there are plenty of pillows.

There is also a gym upstairs with step machine, cycle & weight machine.

In tuen with Adelaide's beautiful Mediterranean climate, the house has a Vergola-covered courtyard with gas BBQ & outdoor furniture.

Small, clean-living canines (non-barking and non-chewing) are considered. A $50 cleaning fee applies for all canine stays to ensure dog hair is removed for future guests. A $500 fully-refundable dog bond is also requested.

Guests will have access to all the house has to offer. There is NBN WIFI, garage parking for one car & off-street parking for a second. There is also plenty of free street parking out the front. Free bikes are available for use during your stay with helmuts and bike locks (his & hers).

The Old Corner Store was absolutely perfect for our 6 day stay. The house was beautifully furnished, clean and a nice mix of modern, vintage, quirky and industrial. We were given great information about getting around town and check in/out were easy. It was a nice walk through the neighbourhood to get to the Botanical gardens where WOMADelaide was held. 10 out of 10 experience, will definitely come back again when in Adelaide.

The week I spent at The old corner house was just perfect. The house offers a lot of facilities, is very clean, quiet and very nice. You have everything you need to cook, wash your clothes, and so on. Everything is made in order you have a beautiful stay, including some advice to organize your visits and some local help (thanks a lot Karen !) if needed. I really enjoyed my breakfast in the garden in the morning sunshine for example... It is rather close to the city (possible to walk if you like to but also to bike or to take the bus easily). I really hope it will be possible for me to come back. One of my best experience renting a house !

Well located city townhouse (Overall Rating = 4.5)

We enjoyed our "in the city stay" and eating out at many of Adelaide's finest restaurants. Great gardens nearby for a walk with our pet dog. Walking distance to many of the city's attractions. Ideal for a couple or a young family. Parking is tight for larger cars.

Stylish Inner City Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay. The Old Corner Store is a sophisticated design savvy residence with many practical features.

In particular we loved:

- being able to bring our dog

- how warm and cosy the house was

- the proximity to the Torrens River Linear Park for walks

- the ease of access to North Adelaide and the CBD

- the quiet and peaceful location

- being able to bring our car off the street into the internal garage

- how well the kitchen and dining area was set up for nights in

- the ease of communication with the manager

This is indeed a sparkling gem of Adelaide's limited boutique accommodation offerings, and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Perfect in everyway

We thoroughly enjoyed our 21/2 week stay at the Old Corner Store. It provided everything that we needed - pet friendly, secure, space but compact, outdoor entertainment area, close to public transport, close to Melbourne St for coffee, all appliances that you would need, close to the Torrens and walking track for us and the dogs, bikes that we used on the track almost every day and all with great support from Karen.

A lovely modern property

We enjoyed our stay at the Old Corner Store. A great location, easy walking distance to cafes and restaurants and the park. It was very comfortable and clean and fantastic to be dog friendly. A very special house

The house was perfect for us two couples - one bedroom and bathroom on each floor. The house is stylish, comfortable, clean and well set up. The location is great - quiet and just about 10 mins from the city centre by car - it was nice to have the garage, so no hassle with parking. We spent a week exploring the city, museums, galleries, restaurants, and we'd only scratched the surface. The house was a lovely place to come 'home' to at the end of a busy day enjoying ourselves! Karen made us feel very welcome and she was helpful with tips for what to see and do. We're already telling friends about this great find.
