Black Horse Park Serenity and beauty

Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Black Horse Park is an historic property first settled in the 1850s by George and Arthur Desmond and located on 20 acres of gently undulating pasture in the prestigious Boorolite Valley of the Victorian High Country. Enriched with age old European Oaks, Elms, Poplars,Liquid Ambers' and Pin Oaks, the property is also close to Mansfield State Forest.

With the property established in the 1850's, the Black Horse Park Homestead is currently undergoing extensive renovations to restore its rich and fascinating history and is also available for holiday accommodation.

*We also have the recently renovated Pin Oak Chapel moved to Black Horse Park in the 1940s and used for stabling the horses and the Original 1850's Pioneers Hut which was the Homesteads main kitchen, available for accommodation*( Please feel free to ask for more details )

The Elm Cabin is fully self contained and has its own completely enclosed yard in the front and rear.

The front yard is graced with an amazing 165 year old Elm tree which supplies an incredible umbrella for picnics and BBQs on those hot summer days and in winter it sheds its leaves to allow the warm snow season sun through and exposes its wonderous limbs.

Some of the cabins features include a reverse cycle air conditioner, full size fridge, 32 LED TV, DVD player, washing machine and dryer, fully equipped kitchen and cooking facilities,( Includes all pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, utensils ) bed linen, towels, BBQ and outdoor fireplace.

We also supply the Cabin with tea & coffee, juice, bread ,eggs, milk and other breakfast condiments.

All linen, towels,etc. are supplied.

Black Horse Park is centrally and ideally located; 15 mins to Mansfield township 20 mins to Mt Buller 10 mins to Goughs Bay 15 mins to Macs Cove, Howqua Inlet and Jamieson.

While in the high country why not pack a picnic lunch and take a leisurely drive to the King Valley wine region, stopping at Powers Lookout along the way, it's simply breathtaking. When you arrive at Whitfield (approx. 45 mins.) you're biggest decision will be which winery to go to, there's about ten in the area...... Oh just try them all! Black Horse Park is an all year round holiday location. The area caters for: Snow skiing / snowboarding at Mt Buller, fishing / swimming at the Delatite River (just 2mins away), horse riding in Mansfield State Forest / Victorian High Country, mountain biking / cycling at the rail trail and Mt Buller ( We have bikes and helmets available for hire) four wheel driving and exploring, golf at Mansfield Golf Club or just enjoy a gourmet platter and a glass of fine local wine at one of the local wineries.

Lake Eildon is only 10 minutes away so why not bring your boat, we have heaps of room to park it safely.

Goughs Bay has three great concrete ramps so you can always access the lake no matter what the water level is.

Besides all the usual water sport activities you should try the bars / resaurants on the waters edge, just pull up, tie up and enjoy.

These are just a few of the wonderful activities on offer. If you would like to bring you're horse and ride the vast expanses of the Victorian High Country, it's on our doorstep, with endless tracks to ride you'll be amazed at the breathtaking scenery and awesome riding trails.

We have excellent horse friendly paddocks and four post and rail yards with water and washing facilities and plenty of room to park the float.

You don't even have to bring your own hay as we have plenty of good quality grass hay here you can buy at a very reasonable price.

Your horse can stay for $10 per night or if you are unable to bring one don't worry we can arrange local horses and guides for you. During your stay at Black Horse Park, feel free to wander the property, fish for Red Fin, Rainbow trout and Yabbies or even have a swim in our large clean dam, sip on a glass of you're favourite wine, read a book or just have an afternoon nap.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards

Rob and Helen Hart

Great Stay

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I had a great stay here in The Elm Cabin. Very comfortable and relaxing for us. Rob was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The cabin was very clean and well equipped for everything we needed for our 4 night stay. Fantastic, shady fenced yard for our dog and an outdoor fire to enjoy in the evenings. We would love to come back to visit one day!

Black Horse great stay and comfortable, rural area

  • 5 of 5

Black Horse a great stay comfortable rural area not far from Mansfield township close to Mt Buller. Beautiful surroundings in a rural setting. Cabin very clean, warm and everything you need for your stay. Being set up to accommodate you and your horse with great countryside to trail ride (horses) new fencing so you know your horse be secure. Plenty of parking for your floats, boats and cars. great for groups of people ,good phone reception and NBN on the way (probably already on now). We will return on an annual basis. PET FRIENDLY so you can bring your dog as the cabin yard is fully fenced. Of course there is renovations to other buildings and main house so it will still further improve.

Great get-away place!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time over the long weekend at the cabin! Rob & Helen were extremely helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make our stay one to remember. The cabin had everything we could ask for and was absolutely spotless! We have stayed in many cabins, and this one was definitely one of the best! It was great for our two large/crazy dogs as well, with a secure fenced yard plus plenty of space to run around on their entire property with a creek and dam! Fantastic location on a no-through country road, yet easy drive to Mansfield and the snowfields.

Can 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet country get-away with friendly and knowledgeable hosts in a private, clean and comfy cabin!
