The cottage dates from the 1860’s and is the last of three workman’s cottages that were the homes for locals working in the market gardens producing vegetables and fruit for the new town of Adelaide. The 40cm thick walls are made of local creek stone and mud. The casement windows and roof rafters are made of local hand hewn timber. The cottage was sympathetically extended in the 1970’s.
Heysen Hideaway Cottage is in a perfect location for bushwalkers, cyclists and anyone who enjoys the seclusion whilst relaxing with a glass of local wine and cheese in front of a wood fire, or outside listening to the birds and local wildlife.
