The cottage dates from the 1860’s and is the last of three workman’s cottages that were the homes for locals working in the market gardens producing vegetables and fruit for the new town of Adelaide. The 40cm thick walls are made of local creek stone and mud. The casement windows and roof rafters are made of local hand hewn timber. The cottage was sympathetically extended in the 1970’s.

Heysen Hideaway Cottage is in a perfect location for bushwalkers, cyclists and anyone who enjoys the seclusion whilst relaxing with a glass of local wine and cheese in front of a wood fire, or outside listening to the birds and local wildlife.

You feel like you are a long way from suburbia, but in reality very close to all amenities.

Your secluded hideaway in the Adelaide Hills

Heysen Hideaway is the ideal location that not only offers you easy access to events in Adelaide - 15 minutes drive - but still offers you a secluded hideaway in the Adelaide Hills.

The kitchen features electric oven and cooktop, microwave, refrigerator and separate bar fridge for drinks and plenty of bench space for food preparation. The kitchen/dining room has French doors leading onto the secluded brick courtyard.

Enjoy the local products available seasonally - beautiful cherries during summer, strawberry picking, roadside stalls, artisan cheese makers, bakeries and many more.

Welcoming comfy lounge chairs with LCD TV and DVD player are available in the lounge room. There is also another TV and DVD player in the family room with a reverse cycle split air conditioner.

The king size bed offers a view of the courtyard and front view of the valley. The second bedroom has two king size single beds with a view over the neighbouring paddocks with sheep and horses. There is another bedroom in between this one and the family room with a queen size bed which has French doors leading outside to the courtyard.

Outside in the courtyard enjoy an al fresco setting. The back entertaining area is private with bbq and view of the neighbouring hills and garden.

There is also a cubby house in the backyard for the children to play in.

Just 15kms from the city

Heysen Hideaway is situated at 31 Woods Hill Road Summertown in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

Whilst only a short 15 kms from the Adelaide GPO Heysen Hideaway feels like it is worlds away and offers you your secluded hideaway in the Adelaide Hills. Ideal accommodation for local avents - Tour Down Under, Classic Adelaide car race, Crush Festival In January and again in July for the Winter Reds Festival. Almost every weekend you will find a farmers' market in one of the many small towns in the region. The cinema in Mt Barker has outdoor movies from January to March.

Heysen is your perfect secluded hideaway that not only offers you easy access to events in Adelaide but also gives you easy access all that the Adelaide Hills has to offer.
