Comfy and bright cottage on 2 acres, surrounded by views of hills and large dam

Situated two minutes off the Princes Highway (half way between Nowra to the north, and the charming village of Milton to the south) and convenient to many of the Shoalhaven region's most beautiful beaches.. Finchley B&B offers 2 acres of lightly treed rural land with delightful views including wallabies and kangaroos grazing nearby.

We have a dog-proof fenced yard connected to the rear of the cottage, and at the front, up to 2 acres of secure open space where dogs or children can have a good run around to let off steam after a long trip in the car.

The Shoalhaven region has become famous for many quality wineries, some with their own restaurants, and some offering jazz events, local exhibitions etc, as well as many quality restaurants and cafes including the world renowned Rick Stein's at Bannisters, in Mollymook, and weekend markets, galleries and museums.

Finchley B and B is very conveniently situated within 20-30 minutes' driving distance of many beautiful Shoalhaven/Jervis Bay beaches, National Parks and bushwalking trails, waterfalls and lookouts, such as George Boyd Lookout and Granite Falls. The Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay coast offers many popular fishing spots, surfing beaches and bays (many, dog-friendly), walking trails, dolphin-and whale-watching cruises and more. You are also within a very pleasant day's outing through Kangaroo Valley to the Southern Highlands area behind us.

The cottage features some original works by a local artist, showing Jervis Bay area views, and we have beach bags with a choice of three of these views, all available to purchase as a souvenir of your visit or perhaps a gift.


Located at the centre of the Shoalhaven, Wandandian village was first established as a postal district in 1860, and has a rich history. The village takes its name from the Wandandian people, the traditional owners of much of the region. The Aboriginal meaning of 'Wandandian' (originally Wandrawandian) is 'home of lost lovers'.

Your accommodation

The main cottage sleeps comfortably 4, but up to 6 adults (includes a fold-out double sofa-bed available for extra guests).

Bedroom 1: Queen-size bed, built-in robe, electric blankets, bedside tables, lamps and clock. Bedroom 2: Twin beds, electric blankets, bedside tables/drawers, lamps, and hanging space; Living area with TV, DVD player, well stocked library and DVD selection, board games, and iPod docking station if you wish to bring your own music. We also provide a few toys and books for children. Dining area comprises table seating for four and two bar stools at servery bench. Kitchen equipped with microwave, fridge, sandwich toaster, toaster, electric frypan and pantry well stocked with many useful items such as sauces, oils, toast toppers, a selection of teas and coffees, including plunger and a Caffitaly coffee pod machine. Bathroom: walk-in shower, vanity unit, emergency supplies such as spare toothbrushes, soaps, shampoo and conditioner, (baby bath, toddlers' table and chair, porta-cot and high chair available upon request), and a separate toilet with hand-basin. Breakfast ingredients supplied include coffee, tea, milk, cereals, bread, yoghurt, butter, jams, fruit juice, fresh fruit - and organic eggs from our own happy hens. There is also a six seater table and benches for dining al fresco, a BBQ, and outdoor seating on the covered verandah. (An additional inter-connecting QS bedded room and full bathroom can also be made available for larger groups, subject to availability. It is also available to be booked as a separate listing on this site (refer "Little Finchley").

For longer stays, additional cooking facilities can be made available, as well as laundry facilities (please talk to your host).

Linen and towels are included.

For take-away or home delivery 7 days a week, there is a handy little place just ten minutes away by car, or only $5 extra to deliver to the door. Also Bewong Roadhouse, just 5 minutes away does great breakfasts and lunches plus early evening meals on weekends.

About Bronwyn Reid

I have lived in Melbourne, Sydney (mostly living and attending school at Chatswood) and Adelaide; and rurally for about 25 years now. While my beloved Sydney (Harbour) is still within easy reach (delightful train journey up the coast), the lifestyle and beauty of this Jervis Bay region is very hard to beat, and there is always somewhere new to explore. I am working my way through the local tourism's "100 Beach Challenge" (up to about 50 at time of writing). I love travel, photography, reading, crafts, my pets, and living in this wonderful region, plus meeting my guests and their pets (I am currently working on my 'Dogues' Gallery' mk III). I have quite a few return guests and plenty of 5 star reviews to attest to how much people enjoy discovering Finchley B and B.

Why Bronwyn Reid chose Wandandian

The setting for Finchley offers the best of both worlds... pretty and peaceful here, and within a very convenient radius of so many lovely places and things to do. The cottage (and smaller unit listed separately - refer "Little Finchley" listing number 9201723) has a spacious verandah which is great for dining al fresco or a BBQ, enjoying the afternoon easterly breezes with a glass of wine. Other options are snoozing in the hammock under the gum trees, or sitting round the (new) fire pit toasting marshmallows on a clear, still night.

What makes this cottage unique

We chose this site for our B and B because the existing cottage, set on a very gently sloping site, really lent itself to becoming a B and B. We built on a 2-storey extension as our private residence, and a while after the B and B cottage was up and running, added the smaller unit, (end section of original cottage) as more of a budget option, ideally for through-travellers who don't need or want all the space both indoor and out - provided with the cottage, but still being pet friendly and a smaller version of a home away from home. These two units can open up into a larger one for bigger groups. Many guests love all the fenced, secure space their pets can run around in safely, plus the dog-proof-fenced yard off a rear door; the smaller unit, a spacious, enclosed, gated verandah. Well behaved, house-trained pets are welcome indoors (bowls, rugs and couch protector provided), we ask only that they do not disturb other guests and that owners clean up after their pets.

An excellent stay with our dog who was welcome inside and had his own safe yard. Such generous provision of pantry items and breakfast supplies and the cottage was so very clean. Only a 20 minute drive to the beaches.

A peaceful paradise!

My husband and I have just returned from a blissful holiday at Finchley B&B and can't say enough wonderful things about our experience. We spent a long weekend at Finchley with two our friends friends and two dogs and everyone had such an amazing time. The property is perfect for those with pups; the spacious yards are fully enclosed, so you have peace of mind and can relax while they play. Our dogs had the time of their lives romping around the place and were very sad to leave! The cottage is extremely comfortable, immaculate and beautifully decorated. Bronwyn has put so much work into ensuring every need is catered for; the pantry was stocked with anything you could ever want and the breakfast supplies were plentiful and delicious -- especially the eggs that were freshly laid by Bronwyn's chickens! We loved having our breakfast out on the gorgeous front porch, while watching the morning sun sparkle on the nearby lake. In the evening after a lovely day at the beach, we sat on the porch with wine and nibbles and watched the sun set. A spectacular lightning storm later that night just added to the magic of the experience! Bronwyn was a fantastic and friendly host, and we really enjoyed chatting and having a laugh with her. We have stayed at many places on the south coast, and this was by far our favorite. We will certainly be returning. If you have pets, or even if you don't, this is the place to stay for a wonderful weekend away from the city!!

Fantastic Getaway

Terrific, peaceful, relaxing setting. We couldn't have asked for more. Bronwyn's hospitality and attention to detail is second to none. Perfect place for a dog friendly getaway, our Greyhound, Tricky loved exploring the extensive yard, and meeting some new doggy friends. We will definitely be back, and would recommend Finchleys B&B to everyone looking for a home away from home just to unwind and recharge the batteries.

Best Dog Friendly Bed and Breakfast

We have stayed at many dog friendly accommodation over the past year and this is by far the best

The unit itself was clean and tidy and the attention to detail unbelievable

The units have great fenced areas which your dog is free to roam in and there are connecting gates which enable your pooch to play with the one next door (if that is appropriate)

Breakfast on the front porch in the morning sun was just a gorgeous way to start the day

Bronwyn has provided lots of extras in relation to food which we really appreciated and the breakfast provisions were excellent

We cannot recommend this property highly enough - just excellent

Perfect for both owner and pet stays

We enjoyed our stay and felt very welcomed by our hosts Bronwyn and Geoff, Louie and Darcy. The accommodation was excellent and the field in front of the deck was ideal for doggies to play and explore. I was most impressed by the attention to detail and the summery beach style decor. We were very happy with our stay and can't wait to return.
