RIVER COTTAGE is located at Woolbrook in the New England region of NSW. The farm is situated on the Oxley Highway approximately 25 kms west from the township of WALCHA or 30 kms east from BENDEMEER and set in the picturesque mountain ranges of the Northern Tablelands. It is 50 mins drive from the major town of Tamworth and 50 mins drive from Armidale; 2.5 hrs drive from Port Macquarie and 5.5 hrs from Sydney.
The Northern Tablelands embraces four distinct seasons from mild summers to bracing winters. The nights are always cool in summer to allow a peaceful night's sleep and the ever changing landscape takes your breath away. From the panoramic views of the landscape to the peace and tranquility of the sounds of the bubbling water cascading over the rocks and sand of the mountain fresh Macdonald River meandering through the property.
RIVER COTTAGE is located on a running cattle station enterprise called "Loloma" which is adjacent to the village of WOOLBROOK. The property spans over 2000 acres of rolling countryside with an elevation from 1000 meters above sea level to 1100 metres above sea level. From the everyday running which go hand in hand with such an operation to the relaxing sounds of the Macdonald River which passes straight through the centre of the property giving the keen fisherman 6 kms of tranquil fishing locations all to yourself. If you're not into fishing, then pack a picnic basket and wonder down to the river, read a book and watch the cattle graze or catch a glimpse of the many platypus families frolicking along the river.
A fully equipped kitchen and barbeque facilities are provided but if you don't want to fuss in the kitchen, then there is a local pub offering exquisite meals only 6 kms away for that night or lunch out.
Walcha, being the nearest town, offers many cafe and lunch spots and browse through the town to look at the many various art pieces produced by award winning local talented artists and sculptures. Uralla, located on the New England Highway, is another interesting town to explore with many new boutique cafes, brewaries and wineries to taste.
RIVER COTTAGE will offer you the escape from the busy city life to unwind and curl up with a good book and relax in a newly renovated and very comfortable farm cottage.

For your grocery needs if you are travelling from the east coast along the Oxley Highway, Walcha is the last town to pick up your grocery supplies. If you're coming from the north along the New England Highway, then Uralla is the last stop to pick up groceries and if you're coming from the south, then Tamworth would be the best spot to purchase your groceries before arriving. However, Walcha is a short 25 minute drive if you decide to arrive here first.

If you are coming from Walcha head west along the Oxley Highway for 25 kms toward Bendemeer and turn left at the Woolbrook turnoff. Drive through the village of Woolbrook veering left after the bridge, follow the road over the railway line and veer left again at the fork in the road, cross the cattle grid and drive down the road for 1 km turning left into the driveway and you are here.
If you are heading from Bendemeer on the New England Highway, again turn onto the Oxley Highway heading East and continue down the road for 25kms until you reach the turnoff for Woolbrook, turn right into the Woolbrook village and continue along the road with the same directions as before.
RIVER COTTAGE is to the left after you have entered Loloma. It will be open and you can either come to the main house first or go direct to the cottage. We will see you enter the property to welcome you.
