About Catherine Lewis
We are country people at heart and have always loved horses. In fact when my husband Clancy had to pay his way through university he started a trail riding business at Mt Dandenong. We moved from NSW 4 years ago in search of the perfect horse property to bring up our family. We found it at Chum Creek. 136aces of horse and human heaven with 9 paddocks and 9 dams. We also love great food and wine so we well placed here in the Yarra Valley. We have put a lot of love into making Chum Creek Hut a pretty special place and we love sharing this amazing part of the world with our guests.

The property and setting is stunning!
Location to Yarra Valley and all it entails is great..
We felt at this price point a few little amenities were missing and would have have made our stay more comfortable were hair dryer, iron, stereo or radio, shower gels and even milk and coffee.
Some nice fresh bread and local produce upon arrival would have been such a nice touch.
Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I hope you enjoyed your birthday weekend! The hairdryer and iron are located in the cupboard, I’m so sorry you didn’t see them. Next time be sure to ask your host during your stay and I’m sure they will be more than happy to help you. Also we have a well stocked tea and coffee draw for guests and a good old fashion coffee plunger! Kind regards, Catherine.
The property is beautiful and very well maintained. Unfortunately the heating wasn’t working properly which was an issue as being June it was very cold. We did leave our stay early after speaking with the property manager.
Lovely cottage. Beds so comfy. Beautiful surrounds. Open fire place so cosy. And no Wi-Fi! Great for digital detox. Love Ruby the farm dog and visits from the pregnant mares to our back gate. We didn't want to leave. Thankyou for a lovely stay.
Stunning location, was a beautiful experience watching the horses gallop in the adjoining fields
It would have been lovely if the riding school had some draughties/clydesdales. At 6ft 5 and 100kg my partner (plays rugby) could not avail of any horse riding experiences. But overall our stay was delightful and the hosts were easy to communicate with
Awesome ambience, views, and friendly animals.
Just 10 minutes from Healesville, and we are in the middle of hills, trees, ponds, kangaroos, horses, ducks, cockatoos, kookaburras and Steve the peacock. We have a lovely patio over a pond, to sit and watch the sun go down, or feed the horses. Amenities were fine and very comfortable. The sense of a mountain hut but with modern facilities. Lovely.
Thank you for your lovely review. It’s greatly appreciated. It was a pleasure to have such gracious guests.
