Large pet friendly self-contained eco cottage with deck and private courtyard overlooking rainforest with large dam for swimming, only 3km from Byron (free bikes available) Very peaceful rural setting with lots of birds.

The cottage has an en-suite bathroom with toilet and hot water shower. As well each cottage has its own eat in kitchen with full size fridge and breakfast bar overlooking the waterways and rainforest. Additionally there is a Weber BBQ in a covered communal area which is situated next to the cottage. There is a fire pit just outside the communal area. Firewood is available at the local petrol station. We will provide it if we have it. There is also a long table and chairs and a day bed in the communal area.

The cottage is very private and has a large courtyard with hammock, deck chairs and table with chairs When you arrive you can unload your car next to the cottage but then please park in the car park near the entrance and not far from the cabins. The cottage is well insulated so stays cool in summer and warm in winter. There are screens on the windows and a screen door on the sliding door so the windows and door can be left open to allow a good cross-flow.

The cottage is set on a 20 acre farm with rescue cows, a rescue donkey, geese, chooks and very friendly Muscovy ducks. We are off-grid, so all power is generated by solar. Come and try a true eco-friendly stay. Rest assured we do have power points in the cottage to charge phones etc. We have good internet coverage at the cottages.

We don’t have wifi but there is good 4G coverage.

The cottage has a queen bed. Charges are based on 2 people using the queen bed. There is also a comfortable double futon sofa bed in the cottage but there is additional charge of $50 per person per night for the 3rd person (minimum of 2 nights). If you are 2 people and would like to use the sofa bed, please let us know in advance.

Linen is provided but please bring your own towels. If you are flying here and luggage space is an issue, we can provide towels but please let us know.

The kitchen is equipped with 4 burner gas hot plate, full size fridge, kettle and all cooking equipment and eating and drinking utensils.

We have a washing machine for guests and there are drying lines.

The cottage is cycling distance (3km) to town and we can provide you with bikes. if you want to go out and enjoy the nightlife of Byron and don't want to drive, we are only a short Uber/taxi ride away.

We have a Sunday afternoon volleyball game on our land most weeks and you are welcome to join in and meet some locals. We also cycle to a cafe or town or do the lighthouse circuit with friends most mornings and you are welcome to join us. Just ask us.

Dogs are welcome. Our farm is not fenced for dogs but dogs soon get the lay of the land and enjoy the large open space in front of the cottages. Owners can relax on the cottage deck and keep an eye on their dog running freely. If you provide bedding for the dog, he/she can stay in the cottage but please keep off all furniture. Would appreciate if you swept up any dog hair before leaving. Please pick up all dog poo and put in the bin. As much as we love dogs, please do not bring a dog here if it is aggressive, menacing or an incessant barker. We need to consider the people in the other cottage.

Please let us know if you are bringing a dog as there is an additional charge of $50 per dog for stays between 4 and 6 nights. Price for longer stays is negotiable.

Perfect little Byron farmstay. Away from the hustle and bustle and so quiet yet close enough to run or cycle to town. We will be back!

Can highly recommend the cottage. Perfect location. Close to the city but you feel like you are miles away. Loved the little lake for a swim. Will definitely be back 🙂

About the host

Hi. I’m Bruce. My partner Penny and I, former city dwellers, moved to this area a few years ago. We live in a very tranquil and relaxed environment so close to Byron yet in a hidden rural valley which we are happy to share with you. We have friendly rescue cows that mow the grass and give us compost for our organic vegetable gardens. Geese wander and ducks do Leunig antics. We have bikes you can use to peddle the 3 km into Byron. Penny and I love living here, come see why.

Why they chose this property

Within the 20 plus acres there is a large deep dam that is great to swim and kayak in. There is also an extensive water canal system that attracts a large variety of native bird life.

What makes this property unique

Great to relax and unwind. Read a book in a hammock overlooking the dam. Great bird watching
