Byron country cabin 2, 3km to Byron Bay (bikes available)

Bedrooms 1
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 1 - 5 nights

About the property

Large pet friendly eco cabins (2) with deck and private courtyard overlooking rainforest with large dam for swimming, only 3km from Byron (free bikes available) Very peaceful rural setting with lots of birds.

Attached flush toilet and separate hot water shower for each cabin. Gas cooktops and Weber BBQ, chest fridge and dining facilities are in a covered communal area which is situated between the 2 cabins. There is a fire pit just outside the communal area. Firewood is available at the local petrol station. We will provide it if we have it. There is also a long table and chairs and a day bed in the communal area.

Each eco cabin is very private and has a large courtyard with hammock and table and chairs next to the communal area. When you arrive you can unload your car next to the cabin but then please park in the car park near the entrance and not far from the cabins. The cabins are well insulated so stay cool in summer and warm in winter. There are screens on the windows and a screen door on the sliding door so the windows and door can be left open to allow a good cross-flow.

The cabins are set on a 20 acre farm with rescue cows, geese, chooks and very friendly Muscovy ducks. Horse riding is available up the road at a neighbour’s property. We are off-grid, so all power is generated by solar. Come and try a true eco-friendly stay. Rest assured we do have power points in each cabin to charge phones etc. We have good internet coverage at the cabins.

Each cabin has a queen bed. Charges are based on 2 people using the queen bed. There is also a comfortable double futon sofa bed in the cabin but there is additional charge of $25 per person per night for the 3rd person (minimum of 2 nights). If you are 2 people and would like to use the sofa bed, please let us know in advance.

Linen is provided but please bring your own towels. If you are flying here and luggage space is an issue, we can provide towels but please let us know.

The cabins are cycling distance (3km) to town and we can provide you with bikes. We have horses on the land and at times can arrange rides with a local person. if you want to go out and enjoy the nightlife of Byron and don't want to drive, we are only a short taxi ride away.

Dogs are welcome but please make sure they don't chase farm animals or birds. If you provide bedding for the dog, he/she can stay in the cabin but please keep off all furniture. Would appreciate if you swept up any dog hair before leaving. Please pick up all dog poo and put in the bin. As much as we love dogs, please do not bring a dog here if it is aggressive, menacing or an incessant barker. We need to consider the people in the other cabin.

Please let us know if you are bringing a dog as there is an additional charge of $25 per dog for stays up to 3 nights, and $50 per dog for stays between 4 and 6 nights. Price for longer stays is negotiable.

Portacot available with linen for $40/stay. Just portacot $20/stay

About Bruce Kaldor / Penny Beaumont

Hi. I’m Bruce. My partner Penny and I, former city dwellers, moved to this area a few years ago. We live in a very tranquil and relaxed environment so close to Byron yet in a hidden rural valley which we are happy to share with you. We have friendly rescue cows that mow the grass and give us compost for our organic vegetable gardens. Geese wander and ducks do Leunig antics. We have bikes you can use to peddle the 3 km into Byron. Penny and I love living here, come see why.

Why Bruce Kaldor / Penny Beaumont chose Skinners Shoot

Within the 20 plus acres there is a large deep dam that is great to swim and kayak in. There is also an extensive water canal system that attracts a large variety of native bird life.

What makes this cabin unique

Great to relax and unwind. Read a book in a hammock overlooking the dam. Great bird watching

The perfect setting and hosts, for a relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

My mum and I stayed 2 nights and just loved it. The weather was not so great, but Bruce and Penny were lovely hosts and their property is absolutely beautiful. The perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I will definitely be back!

Pure Bliss

  • 5 of 5

Took my daughters away for a weekend escape to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living and that’s exactly what we got! We felt immediately relaxed. First impression was it’s even more beautiful than the photos show. Bruce and Penny were amazing hosts they made us feel so welcome. They introduced us to their rescue cows and we got to feed their gorgeous ducks. I particularly loved relaxing in the hammocks and watching my daughters swim in the dam. The location is perfect not too far away from Byron Town but tucked away so you feel like your miles away from it all! We cannot wait to return and I can not recommend it enough. If you’re looking for some Zen you will find it here. So peaceful!

My partner and I stayed here for our anniversary and absolutely adored these Eco cabins. Very serene and peaceful. Would recommend for a couple or even a group of four and booking both cabins. Will definitely be back.

Excellent eco cabin experience

  • 5 of 5

My 13 year old daughter and I had a wonderful experience staying 6 nights in one of the cabins. The surroundings are spectacular and peaceful. The owners are extremely welcoming and thoughtful. We would love to return in the future and I highly recommend this property to others.
