You are invited to stay in Stirling House, one of Darwin’s most classic and unique historical tropical homes.

Located in a quiet and secret hideaway nook of Larrakeyah (the closest residential suburb and to the CBD), our place is an old-world elevated Top End family home, full of charm.

Harking back to the yesteryear Burnett era of simple breezy tropical design, the residence features high ceilings, boutique floors and walls of louvres all round. It is tucked away on a large secluded and shady block - 2000 sq. metres. Please note the upstairs of the property is listed separately on Stayz as Stirling House.

Stirling Atrium Apartment is the downstairs of this property. This apartment is great for those wishing to experience a different kind of Darwin. It is a fully self-contained 1 bedroom apartment best suited to couples or families. The large bedroom has 1 king size bed, 1 single bed and an optional extra mattress. The apartment has its own bathroom, simple kitchen and atrium living room.

The delightful indoor/outdoor living area features floor to ceiling louvres, (note this space is not screened), antique and retro furniture, unlimited NBN WiFi, a large screen TV and a stereo.

Our simple kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials you will need to feel at home. (2 burner electric stove, electric frying pan, sandwich maker, toaster, kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, etc. Please note there is cold water only in the kitchen sink). Organise a family dinner. Or relax on the back or side verandah and dine whilst you watch the sun set over the tropical garden.

We have tried hard to stay true to the classic post-colonial design features of our home, which by nature suits low energy consumption. The living area utilises louvres, open-topped walls and a high roof to enable cross-ventilation - If required we do have air-conditioning available in the large bedroom.

The property has a large front driveway with off-street parking for 6 cars. We welcome families and are happy for you to bring your pets (although we do ask that they stay outside and will need to be on a lead as the property is not fully fenced).

We are exceptionally well-located for the town’s features. Our home is accessible to the CBD, Cullen Bay Marina, the Casino or the famous Mindil Beach Markets where you can sample amazing local tropical culture and taste a range of food and drinks from many countries.

One minute away are buses that will get you to most places in Darwin that you may need to go, with direct routes to three of the main museums as well as beaches, the botanical gardens and nature reserves.

There are playgrounds for the kids nearby, with a small one a few doors down. It is 15 mins to the university, the airport, Marrara Stadium, and the hospital.

Please note: This is a family rental house. While it is suitable for family gatherings and special occasions it is not suitable for loud parties. This is our own home and we are very happy to share it with others when we are away. We like our guests to treat it as they would their own.

Pricing

Our advertised pricing is for the downstairs self-contained apartment only. The pricing is for 2 people. Additional guests are charged at $30 per person.

The upstairs is available also for booking, which we normally rent out separately. (This is negotiable.)

Feel free to chat to us about a discount for longer stays or off season stays.

We have a minimum stay of 4 nights. We will try to accommodate stays of less than 4 nights but may then need to charge a cleaning fee.

We require a refundable security deposit (or bond) of $500.00
