Recently awarded winners of the residential heritage award 2015 for its exemplary restorative work for the preservation of a dilapidated Miner's Cottage consistent with the conservation elements of Broken Hill City Council.

This quaint Miner's cottage known as 'T Street' is an ideal cosy retreat for a travelling couple providing all the comforts of home. T Street is situated in the outback mining town of Broken Hill and it's unique breathtaking surroundings of the living desert. Explore the history of the mines and local artists including the famous Brushmen of the Bush such as Pro Hart, Jack Absalom, Eric McCormick and others. Visit the Mint which has the purest silver in the world. Explore the heritage trails and the famous outback sculptures.

Use the free bike hire from the Cottage to travel around town and the galleries. Take a trek across country to Silverton 26 km and cool down at the Silverton pub with a light refreshment. Visit the historical gaol and old church recently renovated.

Gateway to the Outback

Broken Hill is the "Gateway" to the outback and the charm of this heritage listed township with its extraordinary history and early settlers has put 'The Hill ' on the map today. Discover the past and now the present and the new mines supporting our future.

Journey out to Silverton 26 klm from town and visit the heart of where 'Mad Max' was filmed with Mel Gibson and wander through the local Art Galleries or simply experience breathtaking views across Mundi Mundi plains and Umberumbika Dam.

Visit the Menindee Lakes and Kinchenga National Park or venture to outback stations. Contact the local Tourism Centre in town.

Flora and Fauna especially Bird Watching

The outback offers an amazing diversity of birdlife. A total of 195 species of birds, 58 species of reptiles, 5 species of amphibians and 37 species of mammals have been recorded in the Broken Hill Complex Bioregion.

In this bioregion, the endangered yellow-footed rock-wallaby (Petrogale xanthopus) has a limited distribution centred on the Bynguano and Coturaundee Ranges between Mootwingee and White Cliffs, north of Broken Hill.
