A single level 4/5 bedroom brick home - caters for up to 12 guests with 9 beds (including King size Master). Private and tranquil 1/2 acre property SPECTACULAR uninterrupted views of Moreton Bay's turquoise waters from almost every room. Watch Kangaroos graze in the yard and Sugar Gliders leap across the dusk sky whilst witnessing the BEST SUNSETS on the East Coast of Australia. Then enjoy the magical twinkling night lights of the Brisbane CBD. Majority of guests say pictures don't do the view justice; you have to experience it to truly understand.

This home is suited to nature lovers who want to connect with nature, wildlife and enjoy peace and tranquillity. You will sleep like a baby at Straddie View. Located on the calm bay side of the Island in a peaceful cul-de-sac just 3 mins drive from the ferry arrival point at Dunwich. It is a scenic 15-20 min drive to the far more touristy Point Lookout and its surf beaches and just 5 mins to the stunning fresh water Tea Tree Lake Bummiera (Brown Lake). You will enjoy sitting back and unwinding in the undercover outdoor living area equipped with a 4m table, large wicker lounge and huge 6 burner BBQ with wok (BBQ gas included).

It is the perfect solution when 'some loved ones' want to go camping and fishing and 'other loved ones' would rather comfy beds and warm showers. You get nature, relaxation and creature comforts.


Located in a quiet cul-de-sac at 4 Illawong Crescent, Dunwich. Closest street on the Island to Brown Lake (3 mins), thee Golf Club (5 mins) Blue Lake (7 mins) and the 32km white sand Main beach (10 mins). You only drive past 3 houses then the bush to all of them. Main Beach has great fishing and surfing and is perfect for long walks on the beach and a swim. It is a 15-20 min pleasant drive from the far more tourist filled Point Lookout and and Amity townships and their countless stunning beaches and 3 mins to Dunwich Township, shops, the bay beaches (Adams, Lady Lock & Bradburys) and the vehicle and passenger ferries.

On a clear day you can see the Glasshouse Mountains to the North and as far south as the Tweed volcanics; on wild days you can sit and watch storms up to 500 kms away. The view changes by the hour due to tides changing and the suns angle. There is always boating action on the bay to watch and you can see the planes landing and taking off from the Brisbane airport.


“Sunset @ Straddie View” is extremely quiet, tranquil and private with lots of visiting wildlife including sugar and squirrel gliders, birds of prey (eg. eagles and kites), parrots, goannas and the odd kangaroo or koala. Relax, unwind, connect with loved ones and experience the beauty of Straddie during your stay at “Sunset @ Straddie View”.


Please note all linen and bath towels are included in the rental price for this property; so you arrive to beds MADE UP ready to sleep in. This is unusual for a holiday rental on Straddie; most rentals require you BYO or charge $20/pp; our place therefore saves you $200 for 10 guests.

Also you won't have to fit the 3 suitcases of linen and towels in your luggage, or spend your valuable holiday making beds. BONUS!


We are owner managers (not a large property management company). We are quick to respond (usually less than an hour) to booking enquiries. We are happy to help you before and during your stay and provide local Intel, or leave you to relax.


Our Rates are as they appear on STAYZ, we do not put a low rate on STAYZ to entice you then hit you up with a higher rate upon enquiry as many listings do. NO PETS ALLOWED! This is because the property is not fully fenced and there is wildlife around such as a a curlew family that lives in the yard and gliders in the trees.

All beds are made up ready for you upon arrival with 100% organic cotton sheets and feather pillows included in price.

The Master suite plus bedrooms 2, 3 & 4 all have celling fans and built in wardrobes; each room has stunning Moreton Bay water views except bedroom 4 and 5 which have a tranquil bush outlook.

The Master suite has a king size pillow top bed, TV, reverse cycle air conditioning, study desk and en-suite,

Bedrooms 2 & 3 have queen size pillow top beds and reverse cycle air conditioning.

Bedroom 4 has 2 single pillow beds.

Bedroom 5/rumpus room has 2 single beds plus 2 trundle beds that have legs that unfold to full height.


Fully appointed modern kitchen complete with dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, barmix, fully automated 'Nespresso Lattissima' espresso machine; and all you will need in the way of pots and pans, cutlery, crockery, and utensils to cater for up to 12 people, it’s like your home kitchen not your usual sparse holiday rental kitchen.


Huge covered outdoor living area complete with a 12 seater wooden table, large wicker lounge and large 6 burner BBQ with wok.


Upon request a cot, change table and high chair can be supplied.


A huge top loading washing machine, clothes dryer, clothesline, iron and ironing board.


LAKE BUMMIERA or BROWN LAKE is 2km from the door; an easy 5 min drive or a lovely 20 min bush walk through some of the Islands prettiest bush and wildflowers; arriving at the stunning fresh water Tea Tree lake known as Lake Bummiera by the local Indigenous Quandamooka people. It is a spiritual place and is a must do experience. A swim will relax your mind and body whilst the Tea Tree leaves your skin smooth as a baby’s bottom.

MAIN BEACH is less than 10 minutes’ drive with 32km of stunning white sandy beach which is great for 4WDing (you can drive the full length of the beach if you purchase a permit for your vehicle), swimming, surfing, fishing, jet skiing and long walks etc.

DUNWICH TOWNSHIP is less than 3 minutes’ drive and features a fantastic historical museum which is well worth exploring. Learn all about Straddie’s diverse and interesting history.

Dunwich has all the amenities you will need including a supermarket, pharmacy, butcher, bakery, post office, newsagent, Quandamooka art gallery, cafes and take away eateries. The Dunwich foreshore has some beautiful calm shallow water beaches (eg. Adams Beach which is ideal for swims with small children) and beautiful bay walks (eg Polka Point).

NSI GOLF COURSE is less than 5 mins drive or a pleasant walk away. It features an 18 hole sand golf course with the most relaxed feel and is family friendly (also has free putt putt golf), affordable, great breaky & lunch, and is teeming with wildlife such as kangaroos plus rare glossy black cockatoo’s.

POINT LOOKOUT is a 15-20 minute drive and features great patrolled surf beaches the spectacular Gorge Walk and some nice cafes. A Gelato from the Point Lookout Gelato Bar whilst taking in the stunningly rugged coast and watching passing animals (eg. whales, dolphins, sharks, turtles and rays) is a must do whilst on Straddie!

Beautifully set up holiday stay with a wonderful outlook and view for BBQs and rests. We didn't want to leave and certainly would stay here again. Big PLUS is the giant table and lounge outside taking advantage of the view - and the BBQ of course. Huge thanks to Kate and Pip for all the thought you have put into everything one needs to provide a home away from home.

Straddie's best kept secret

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. Great location. The backyard view was amazing with large outdoor entertaining area to match.
