Relax and rejuvenate in elegant splendour at Pavilion in Kewarra. This 3 bedroom Balinese resort style private house boasts elegant living/dining areas and 3 generous bedrooms in separate pavilions striding over enormous lily pond filled with aquatic plants, mood lighting and tropical fish.
This house is our own home. We spend a full time schedule fine tuning and updating the house and garden for our guests' pleasure. We own apartments in Cairns 20 minutes away. Depending on the duration of the rentals, we either stay in our apartments in Cairns or go overseas while the house is on rental so that full privacy for our guests is assured. No personal items are left on the premises while you vacate in our house. We are available for assistance if required and have secured staff to look after your needs should we be away.
Upon entering the formal entrance to the house you will be greeted with a formal Balinese garden with the enormous verdant pond. Open plan living/dining areas are adorned with an open plan granite kitchen, stone carvings, wooden shutters and expansive glass windows suitable for tropical living yet adequately equipped with air-conditioning and built-in fans. Two bedrooms are furnished with king size beds, while the third bedroom is equipped with 2 single beds. All bedrooms open to private courtyards and enjoy plentiful sunlight and garden breeze.
There is a main bathroom which opens to a private courtyard with water fountain while the main bedroom has an ensuite with an enormous marble bath also opening to its own private courtyard with water fountain.
The swimming pool is oval shaped 12 metres in length equipped with a spa for relaxation. The swimming pool overlooks a pristine tropical garden featuring an exquisite collection of orchids which has been designed to blossom all year round. Tucked away is a mature fruit orchard and vegetable garden which will supply you with complimentary delicious fresh produce.
Foxtel is available for your entertainment on a plasma built-in TV screen in the living room as well as from your devices such as IPhone or Ipad. There is strong Wifi coverage throughout the house and a wifi printer with its own USB for your use in the well equipped study off the main bedroom.

We have installed a modern portable barbecue in a small courtyard next to the orchid garden. Besides being connected to a gas bottle the barbecue has also been adapted for grilling, baking and smoking foods using coalbeads. We usually have a small supply of coalbeads in the garage. More are readily available at grocery stores and gas stations in the neighbourhood.
There are 2 gas cylinders behind the garage adequately insulated and connected to the gas stove and hot water in the kitchen. Should the active cylinder run out of gas, simply switch the green regulator (on the wall) over to the spare cylinder. Same applies to another pair of gas cylinders on the opposite side of the front yard. They are connected to the water heating system in the bathrooms.
There are two irrigation systems in the house. The first one is in the front garden next to the garage fitted both with a sprinkler as well as a hand held hose. The other one automatically irrigates the entire back of the house with the garden hose connected to a network of weeper and dripper hoses. Every day the garden is watered for 30 minutes every 12 hours starting 7am (longer in the summer). Please do not turn off water supply in any manner. If you need to hose down with a sprinkler you may re-connect the garden hose from the dripper hose to the 20m hose reel nearby during irrigation hours, or by turning on the Manual switch on the yellow timer attached to the garden tap (just a quick tab on the perimeter of the timer where it says "manual", nothing else) . Please make sure you do not alter the automatic timer so that it continues to work out its next irrigation cycle when you are finished. Please also return the garden hose to the dripper hoses when finished. In tropical weather plants wither very quickly if left unwatered.
We have left a collection of bonsais and special orchids for your enjoyment. We take care to water them adequately before and after your stay but please feel free to water them if they appear dry. .However if you feel you do not wish to attend to them please let us know. We will find someone to attend to them.
The Jacquzzi spa is part of the swimming pool. Being in the tropical climate, it is not heated. There is a switch on the wall outside the laundry which turns on the operation of the spa. This is the only electric switch you ever need to touch. DO NOT change the filtering mechanism or turn on/off any other power points inside the machinery bay next to the swimming pool.
Should fallen debris or leaves cause concern in the swimming pool, turn on the creepie crawlie from the machinery bay. Throw it into the pool with the chord attached and press Start on the motor. The machine will stop working at the end of the timed period.
If you have enjoyed a foot spa during your travels to Thailand or Malaysia you will now have the opportunity to enjoy it at your own leisure at Pavilion in Kewarra. Simply sit comfortably on the timber deck surrounding the lily pond and dangle your legs into the water. A cleaning station of little fishes will swarm around your feet and nibble away dead skin cells and external parasites from your feet.
We also market Pavilion in Kewarra as a natural therapist centre when we are in residence offering hot oil massage, private yoga classes and meditation sessions. If you feel the need for a hot oil massage or a fragrant and leisurely rose petal/essential oil bath in our oversized marble bath please let us know in advance. Also available are dinner catering and personal chauffeuring. Costs are negotiable.
The mood lighting turns on automatically by dusk. All the lights have been installed to enhance your enjoyment of Pavilion in Kewarra. Different coloured lights rotate and create different moods every 10 minutes and encourage your outdoor activities till the small hours in the morning.
We started the vegetable garden late 2015 and it is offering tropical fruits such as limes, figs, guavas, dragonfruits, passionfruits, strawberries and plenty of salad vegetables. Feel free to help yourself. Naturally any weeding activities are most welcome!
We have installed a high quality water osmosis filter flask on the kitchen bench for your drinking water. It is perfectly safe to drink.
There are 2 bins outside the garage for garbage. Green for general waste and yellow for recycle waste. We usually collect kitchen scraps for use as compost. Feel free to dispose of organic wastes in the worm farm in our organic vegetable garden. The bins go out in the street for collection every Tuesday.
We have installed four aquariums for your enjoyment. They house goldfish, tropical fish and marine wildlife. Feel free to feed the fish while you are enjoying their company. It is both meditative and a healing mindful exercise. Only feed enough for them to finish within 5 minutes. However if you would prefer to not feed the fish please let us know. We will arrange someone to feed them at regular intervals during your stay.
All aquariums are well lit for your enjoyment. While the marine tank lighting is on 24/7 automation, you may wish to turn off the lights for the fresh water tanks before you retire in the evenings.
The aquatic environment in the pool is a self contained system which does not require feeding. However, feel free to give them food scraps if so desired.
Apart from the towels we put out for you, feel free to use extra towels that are stored away on the built-in cupboard shelves in all bedrooms. There are also extra hand made and wrapped soaps on the pantry shelves.
Mops and Brooms
We always combine aesthetics with practicality at Pavilion in Kewarra. While the broomstick and hand brush reside in the laundry broom cupboard, the mops are hidden away in a discreet compartment under the pavilion in front of the laundry closed off by a timber side door. .
We love our house and very much enjoy sharing it with our Stayz guests. Please enjoy fully and return before long. Don't forget to give us a review.
