Parrot Cabin of the otways

Bedrooms 1
Property type cabin

About the property

The Parrot Cabin is ideal for those looking for some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city or for a uniquely Australian experience for overseas visitors. Situated one hour drive from Geelong in the charming township of Forrest this property is set on 80 acres of bush in the foothills not far from the Otway Ranges National Park. The Otways are well known for their lush, cool-temperate forests, rugged scenic coastline and its many waterfalls. There are well maintained walking tracks through the property's natural bushland for those wanting to stretch their legs and refuel at natures pace.

Kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, possums and other native animals are often seen, along with the many varieties of local birds. A view over the township and surrounding ranges rewards those who walk to the top of the hill.

The wider area has many natural attributes and attractions and the township amenities are all within a short walk, these include: world class mountain bike trails, a mountain bike hire shop/café, the Forrest boutique beer brewery/restaurant, the Wonky Donkey Hotel, Bespoke restaurant and the Forrest Caravan Park.

The beautiful beaches along the spectacular Great Ocean Road are some of the best and cleanest in the world and are all within a half hour drive, and the gorgeous coastal towns of Apollo Bay and Lorne are within a 45 min. drive. There are many waterfalls throughout the Otways that are accessible on foot with the impressive Stevensons Falls and Lake Elizabeth, known for its platypus, close to Forrest. The Otway Fly Treetop Walk, near Beech Forest, is a 45 min. drive and is a popular destination.

Parrot Cabin is ideal for any season - whether snuggled up in front of the wood stove in winter, or feeling the cool mountain air arrive at the end of a hot summer's day. The cabin can comfortably accommodate up to four people, the small kitchen and bathroom means you can eat in or visit some of the unique restaurants in the region. A small covered outdoor eating area is great for meals or a barbie when the weather is good. There are two single beds and a queen sofa bed. The kitchenette includes a microwave, electric frypan, electric stove top, jug, toaster and bar fridge. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and wash basin. Laundry facilities are available upon request. The cabin has a slow combustion wood heater, split system air conditioner and an outside electric BBQ. There is no television or free WiFi offered, and also note there is no petrol station in Forrest.

Parrot Cabin is easy to locate being just 800 metres down Turner Drive which is off the Forrest-Apollo Bay Road that runs through town. There is plenty of car parking and lots of open space for the kids to run around.

Enjoy your stay in this enchanting part of the world.
