Creature Comforts Happy Valley (Maheno)

Bedrooms 2
Property type apartment

About the property

Creature Comforts is an environmentally friendly property, located in Happy Valley on the Eastern side of the beautiful World Heritage Listed Fraser Island.

Happy Valley lies just 150m from the eastern coastal beach of central Fraser Island. Centrally located, Creature Comforts is the perfect base from which to explore freshwater lakes, rainforests, the infamous Maheno Shipwreck, Indian Head, Champagne Pools, and the list goes on...

Property Features

The property comprises 2 fully furnished self-contained 2 bedroom cottages (Maheno & Marloo)

**Please see separate Stayz listing if you would like to rent both Maheno & Marloo (Property ID: 181260) cottages together for larger groups**

Each cottage sleeps a maximum of 5 people:

* BEDROOM 1: 1 double bed

* BEDROOM 2: 1 x bunk bed, 1 x single bed (sleeps 3)

* DINING ROOM: small table and chairs

* KITCHENETTE: cupboard space with fridge, kettle, gas cooker, utensils

* BATHROOM: features a shower, toilet and hand basin

Linen is provided

The Cottages run on a 24hr solar power system, with a back-up generator. We do ask guests not to bring electrical equipment (mobile phone/laptop charges are permitted), as they can rapidly deplete the solar battery stores and risk overloading the system.

The Maheno Unit has its' own separate deck area with gas bbq and table/chairs.

Fraser Island

You can reach Fraser Island via barge from Inskip Point (east of Gympie) or River Heads (east of Maryborough). The barge to Inskip Point will provide you with the most straight forward journey to Happy Valley along 75 Mile Beach, however there are many other 4WD tracks leading around Fraser Island if you want to take the scenic route.

You will need a reliable, high clearance 4WD and a vehicle access permit to reach Happy Valley. 4WD vehicles can be hired from Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach.

Creature Comforts is in the perfect location with Happy Valley containing everything you need.

Happy Valley township also offer all the services and facilities you need to enjoy your stay on Fraser Island. Facilities include drinking water, toilets, ATM, fuel, Australia Post mailbox (cleared twice weekly), public phone, and an Ambulance service.

Full Telstra Next G coverage is available at Happy Valley

Convenient Location for Fraser Exploring

  • 3 of 5

The rooms are cozy but large enough for a couple and 2-3 small children. There is no real lounge room as sofa is in the kitchen. The exclusive outside area was perfect although the shared area was larger and more accommodating, the tour groups tend to keep the area exclusive for themselves. We were told categorically not to use the area including the fridges and kitchen area as they pretty much hold the area. There are 2 small fridges in the unit but it's not enough to keep food for 5 days. We didn't argue with the tour group. One morning the tour operator set off the fire alarms to wake the group for breakfast which was disturbing. Take your own pillows as what is provided I would hardly call a pillow. The single beds were uncomfortable as you can feel the springs and our other friends luckily had an inflatable bed that they placed on floor to sleep on. Whilst this accommodation may suit some, we won't be returning to this property.
