"Our children loved the place. Hide and seek, boardgames, just chilling on the hammocks. This place offers great space, quiet locality and flexible arrangements. We wish to visit again!"

Enjoy your beach holiday in style at this fully air-conditioned spacious island home overlooking Moreton Bay. Two self-contained levels with generous outdoor entertaining areas. The house is ideal for families, extended families and is large enough to accommodate two families travelling together.
Stroll to Dunwich's beaches, cafes & shops, or drive a short 15 min. to surf or watch whales. Original artwork, hardwood floors, and Smeg appliances add a spark of luxury to your beach getaway. The layout and furnishings ensure maximum comfort and privacy for large or small groups.
You won’t want to leave once you step through the doors of this charming island home. Over the past 20 years of living in this property, we have focused on creating a comfortable, unique, and relaxing atmosphere, and we want our guests to enjoy the place as we did.
Both levels offer a self-contained, spacious, open-plan layout which flows seamlessly onto outdoor decks, allowing for groups of guests to enjoy both privacy as well as communal experiences.
Begin your day with breakfast with the birds on the covered upstairs deck overlooking southern Moreton Bay. Our local kookaburras and magpies are always keen for a visit, and keep an eye out for rainbow lorikeets zooming past!
The house is the perfect spot for doing anything…or for doing nothing at all. After a day of diving with manta rays, searching for hidden sea creatures on the sand flats, surfing world-class Cylinder Beach, cooling off at Myora springs, or watching humpback whales from the headland, wash off the day’s sand and salt water in a corner bathtub with rain shower head, and relax in the hammock on the deck. When it’s time to wind down, cosy up with one of our eclectic book selections on the daybed or reading lounge in the comfortable living room. Toys, books, DVDs, and games suitable for a range of ages will entertain both young and old if the weather keeps you inside.
The upstairs kitchen features granite benchtops and stainless steel Smeg and Electrolux appliances. The open plan layout allows the chef to be part of the action, and the kitchen is stocked with all the cookware necessary to whip up a gourmet meal. Snack on lychees plucked off the tree from the upstairs deck, and pick a lemon or lime from the garden to squeeze over your Straddie-caught seafood.
In the evening, retire to the expansive master bedroom with cosy sitting nook, and enjoy stunning views of Moreton Bay. Sleeping options upstairs can be tailored to your requirements, with a queen-sized bed and double futon bed in the air-conditioned master bedroom, a double bed in the smaller second bedroom, and a king single daybed in the living room.
The downstairs apartment is also fully self-contained with its own separate entrance, but can be accessed from inside or outside stairways, so you can choose how much you interact with your fellow guests. Send the kids downstairs to the large lounge area with TV and its own outdoor deck equipped with stainless steel BBQ. Meanwhile, watch the sun dip down below Peel Island from the upstairs deck, and enjoy cool bay breezes with your favourite cocktail in hand.
Downstairs there are two air-conditioned bedrooms with queen beds, one of which is separated from the main living area by a privacy curtain. The second bedroom features designer French and bi-fold doors. This apartment has its own bathroom and shower, and a full kitchenette for when separate meals are called for.
The house is located in a residential area and not suitable for events or parties. Excessive noise or parties after 10pm will not be tolerated and may result in eviction.
Please note that pets are not allowed.
Dunwich is your first port of call when arriving to beautiful North Stradbroke Island from the mainland. It is convenient to bayside beaches and boat ramps, and hosts a variety of local Quandamooka artisan shops, restaurants and clubs, and even our local museum. Straddie, as the locals call it, is a relaxing fishing and beach destination, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Straddie Bay Views is centrally located in easy walking distance from both ferry and water taxi terminals, bus stops, shops, and cafes as well as local art galleries and the museum. Two peaceful bayside beaches are only minutes away, perfect for swimming at high tide or exploring at low.
Attractions in Dunwich include the native wildlife, with kangaroos and koalas often seen along the shoreline and in parks. It is a short 15-minute trip by bus or car to nearby Point Lookout and Amity Point, on the ocean side of the island, where you can enjoy surf beaches and an array of dining options. Brown Lake, a large natural fresh water lake is less than 10 minutes drive from the apartment, or can be accessed via a 45 minute walk through native bush. Direct four-wheel drive access to Main Beach is only 15 minutes away. The property is ideally positioned for access to the local boat ramp opening onto the many fishing spots that Moreton Bay has to offer.
Bringing a vehicle is a great way to get the most out of your Straddie experience with daily vehicle barge services to the island. Conventional roads link the islands main centres of Dunwich, Amity and Point Lookout. For the more adventurous a 4wd vehicle will provide access to the more remote sections of the islands stunning beaches. Alternatively, we are conveniently located a short walk from the ferry terminals and also a public bus stop. Water taxis departing from Cleveland, also service the island if you do not wish to bring a vehicle. The apartment is a comfortable walking distance from the taxi terminals. Regular bus services still provide access to Point Lookout and Amity and local taxis are also available. Search “Stradbroke ferries” for details of barge services or “Stradbroke ferries” or “Straddie Flyer” for water taxi services. The Straddie Flyer water taxi service also provides a free bus service from the Cleveland train station which meets many of the Cleveland trains.
