About this property

Complete peace and quiet in the fresh air of the mountains, surrounded by the forest and views over the Hunter Valley.

Our 3 bedroom eco-cabin is close to the world heritage listed rainforests of the Barrington Wilderness and Mount Royal National Park. It is 45 minutes north of Singleton, and an hour from the edge of the Hunter vineyard areas.

Enjoy mountain, cloud and sunset views 70 km across the Hunter Valley. Watch kangaroos and listen to the birds - we are surrounded by native wildlife. Take an easy stroll or challenge yourself with a harder bushwalk on a nearby mountain with spectacular views. Take your mountain bike for a 30km adventure. Or simply sit on the veranda and do nothing!

There is no TV or wifi to distract you from the peace and quiet outside, and you can create delicious meals on the wood fired stove/oven in the self contained kitchen. There is no microwave or coffee machine in the kitchen, or airconditioning; the cabin runs on 100% solar energy! (Please don't bring electrical appliances with you, as they won't be compatible with our off-grid solar power system).

The living/dining area has a wood fire for cosy winter evenings, and a sunny outlook. The 3 bedrooms are small and can sleep up to 9 people. There is a simple bathroom with a flush toilet and shower. The bedrooms and bathroom are separated from the kitchen/living/dining area by a short covered walkway.

We have a cosy campfire area next to the cabin, which can be used subject to any local fire restrictions.

Guests need to bring their own bedding (ie sheets, pillowcases, doonas/blankets & towels) or can be provided at an extra cost if required. Hot water bottles, extra blankets and kitchen linen are provided free of charge.

We also have a separate simple 10-bed bunkhouse and a large bush camping area set up specially for groups - this is 800m away from the cabin, through the forest.

In the heart of nature

Jan and Martin are lovely & welcoming hosts... Callicoma Hill Cabin is cozy, quiet and in the heart of nature. We went for a walk in rainforest at Mount Royal national Park and loved it. We went to St. Claire lake for kayaking and fishing. Very relaxing. (Couldn't catch a fish though, which has more to do with our skills than anything else lol). We used the fire place at the cabin every night for BBQ dinner. Best place to cook your food, chat with friends, play music and just chill. It is a great place to disconnect from our everyday busy lives. It was relaxing for me. A much needed mental reset. Jan and Martin play beautiful music. We played a few pieces together one night with a few different insteuments. Very interesting... I have added Callicoma Hill Cabin to the list of places that I will visit again. Thank you Martin and Jan for your hospitality. We will see you again soon.

Nature escape right on our doorstep

Absolutely lovely escape to the country - great to get back to basics and really enjoy the nature surrounding the cottage. Cottage is simple but has all the things you need to enjoy a weekend away. Cooking on a wood-fired oven was a fun experience. Going off grid for the weekend really helps to appreciate the small things in life. Lots of walking tracks available on the property plus climbing Mount Royal for the more adventurous. Highly recommend.

Perfect cabin experience.

Great for family time. Beautiful walks and great education for the kids Martin and Jan were friendly, informative and clearly lived the space that we’re sharing.
