Qi, also spelled Chi or ch'i
"The circulating life energy that in Chinese/Japanese philosophy is thought to be inherent in all things; in traditional eastern medicine the balance of negative and positive forms in the body is believed to be essential for good health. Martial arts also uses the concept: If you've ever practiced tai chi, then you're already familiar with "qi".

A spectacular mountain retreat nestled in a tranquil, lush rainforest haven on top of Erskine Falls. A bushwalker's paradise, this venue offers exclusivity and is ideal for a cosy romantic weekend away, an intimate wedding, a corporate retreat, small groups or a place to meditate.

Your stay at Qii house includes a gift wrapped welcome hamper, and bottle of wine on arrival ,seasonal local produce and coffee and tea facilities in the fully self-contained kitchen. Linen and individual travel spa hampers with a complimentary "Qii House" candle are all includes.

This original "quirky" architectural gem circa 1977 was built to specification by renowned architect Edgard Pirrotta of Melbourne and is of high local significance. Qii house has been beautifully restored by local artisans in a bespoke manner and melds with its landscape. It offers 4 spacious bedrooms (including 2 King beds housed in separate quarters), a log fire, 2 split systems, a bar and alfresco living; including a large elevated sunset deck; a garden Tea House/Meditation room and an eco Bath House.

Big enough for two, the bespoke bath is encased in bamboo with it's lid embellished by a medallion depicting mermaids and fish, hand-made by artisans in Haiti from recycled oil drums. It is Heather's favourite "sit-spot". In the "hot tub" you can meditate, use eucalyptus oil, even have a glass of champagne, lay back and inhale the aromas of the forest and just be in the moment. A perfect way to engage all your senses. For those seeking a deeper connection with nature there is a kilometre rainforest walking circuit on the property.

Unwind and explore the unknown. Enjoy a relaxing retreat away from "business as usual" overlooking Japanese inspired gardens of simple beauty and an endless forest wilderness landscape.

The Qii house experience will ignite all your senses ensuring you leave feeling refreshed and energised!
A beautiful destination in all the seasons, this property offers, comfort, opulence, silence and privacy.

Erskine Falls is located 5kms away and Erskine river only metres away plus a mecca of waterfalls within a 10 km radius. Walking and cycling tracks are in abundance, in addition, your dining options throughout the property will make for a foodies paradise. Garden gazebo, outdoor pizza oven, BBQ, alfresco area, breakfast bar and various places within the Japanese garden to sit, eat and drink. About 155 species of bird life have been seen in the Otway coastal region so come prepared with wild bird seed. The antics of the kookaburras, the galahs, the parrots are very amusing whilst venturing deeper into the bushland you may even spot a more shy Rufus Bristle Bird. Binoculars and hiking sticks are provided at Qii House to enhance your experience.
The native flora is mid to highly significant. Heather has been researching, and placing wooden plaques around the property giving both botanical and common names. Kangaroos, wallabies, bandicoots, echidnas, koalas, rare and abundant exotic birdlife can be seen all year round on a daily basis at Qii House.

A beautiful lovingly managed garden
A wonderful and unique home away from home - with every aspect of the house, garden and paths carefully thought through and creatively delivered by Heather. She should be rightfully very proud of her Q2 creation as a beautiful place for friends and families to enjoy nature and all the Otways has to offer. Very generous and appreciated hamper and assortment of lovely bathroom things. A few suggestions: (i) more emphasis on biodiversity conservation and planting of natives in the garden to raise awareness and enjoyment; (ii) perhaps a bit less emphasis on the wellness theme - many will benefit from the direct connection with nature without the wellness guidance. Overall and fantastic place. Many thanks Heather - wish we could have had an opportunity for a longer chat and exchange. With best wishes, Jeremy

One word - Awesome
An awesome place to just relax and enjoy everything around you. So much to do around you thay you do not need to leave. We were two families and enjoyed our stay at Qii house. Everything was as described. Heather was great and excellent communication. We enjoyed the walks around and sitting on the deck listening and watching all the wildlife around us. We took the short drive to Erskine falls as well as out to the beach. It's the best of both worlds. Definitely recommend and we will be back too.

As a child and in married life I was driven, always finding good inspired energy and calm within the natural world, as a place to self-reflect, reboot and to contemplate life. I was introduced to Qii House in 2007 and was immediately captivated by its serene, pristine environment, fresh misty mountain air and rainforest canopy. Set high in marshmallow clouds was this quirky architectural jewel with its fishbowl" windows. I immediately saw its vision as a place for renewal and relaxation. I began restorative work in March 2015 and launched the business on Christmas Day 2016. It became known as Qii House Meditation and Relaxation Retreat.

Why they chose this property

The offering at Qii House is for a simple vision. The promotion of mindfulness and wellbeing is affected by engaging the natural environment, and in restoring energy balance and in healing. Time spent in nature meditation in simple luxury. To engage all the senses, to draw breath and to harvest the natural energy and nature's wisdom within the Great Otway Forest Park. It's about getting back to basics, blocking noise and shifting focus to the art of living in harmony with nature's rhythm.
Qii house offers a perfect space to inspire a weary spirit and to digitally detox. By changing their inner attitudes of their minds, guests can expect to change the outer aspects of their lives towards a balanced healing lifestyle.

Qii house is a travel destination giving a transformational wellness experience. Forest Therapy was endorsed as a researched based therapeutic modality in Japan by the World Economic Health Forum in 1984.
Some health benefits associated with being around trees include, lower blood pressure, boosted immunity, and lower incidence of heart disease as well as being good for mental and spiritual wellbeing. I find it also aids sharper focus, greatr creative drive and supports meditation. The natural environment gives great restorative energy.

What makes this property unique

For those seeking a deeper connection with nature, there is a kilometre rainforest "Forest Therapy" trail on the property; "The Zaborin Walk" meaning a place in the forest to 'sit and forget'. This theme is a derivation of Japanese Zen terminology.
Awake in the wild meditation is a unique way to be in nature. "meditation is an essential travel partner on your journey of personal transformation. Meditation connects you to your soul, and this connection gives you access to your intuition, your heartfelt desires, your integrity, and the inspiration to create a life you love." The thing about meditation is you become more and more you. The nature connection enhances the meditation experience, as guests can be guided by invitations along their "slow walk" to engage all senses and soak in the moment. Heather says "we often forget we are nature in the rush of a digital world. With population density in cities, this nature connection is lost and we lose the deeper connection with ourselves. In human evolution, people were immersed in nature and had a symbiotic connection with it. The researched based therapeutic benefits of being amongst trees are bountiful; including stress reduction which has a multi-factorial impact on disease processes.

William Shakespeare once said "one touch of nature makes the whole world kin"..."only spread a fern frond over a man's head and worldly cares are cast out and freedom and beauty and peace come in." -John Muir-I have been planting multi-lingual peace poles along the nature trail with the silent prayer "May Peace Prevail on Earth". The reflective prayer is in 28 languages at present. Heather feels the message for world peace and inner peace bode well with the philosophy at Qii House and serves as a gentle reminder that all things great and small are connected.
