About this property

Boutique stay in old farm shed

BIG.SHED.HOUSE. A big old apple shed, lovingly converted into stunningly beautiful, luxurious, & completely self-contained accommodation, in the heart of Tasmania’s picturesque Huon Valley.

THE SPACE. A fully renovated historic apple shed in the Huon Valley, designed by Australian architect Sam Perversi-Brooks.

Cosy up in front of the central fireplace with a glass of wine and a good book. Relax on the north facing deck, nestled amongst the tall open trees. Stay in bed, lounge or cook up a feast in the spacious surrounds.
Bathe in the luxurious, open, light filled bathroom, or shower under the stars.

With a wide-open uncluttered space, containing original 100-year-old hardwood flooring and a soaring cathedral ceiling, this bold conversion offers the discerning traveller a sophisticated and idyllic respite from city life.

GUEST ACCESS. Completely private self-contained accommodation.

INTERACTIONS WITH HOST. We're nearby if needed, otherwise you can enjoy your stay in privacy.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD. BIG.SHED.HOUSE provides access to the best of Tasmania’s art, culture, food, wine, and natural beauty.

Tasmania’s Huon Valley is one of the most loved food and nature destinations in Australia with travellers flocking to the region from interstate and overseas.
Only a kilometre away from all the conveniences of Huonville, the ‘capital’ of this famed apple, cherry and berry growing region, a mere 5, 10 or 15 minutes away from the villages of Ranelagh, Franklin and Cygnet, and a vast array of local wineries, quality food producers, providores, local bakeries, cafes, restaurants and farmers markets.
Hobart, Australias smallest capital city (with some disproportionately big attractions), is a 35 minute drive away (the airport is approximately 50 to 60 minutes)

GETTING AROUND.Hobart and the surrounding regions are best explored by car. Huonville is a short walk away (1km) where buses are available to Hobart and beyond. Bicycle hire is available locally in Huonville.

great space, great location
This place was beautifully designed nd constructed and a great space to relax in after a day of exploring the local area. It was very well postioned. Great kitchen to work in or Huonville was just down the road for eating out if you don't want to cook. Very private. Just perfect.

The Big Shed House
From the moment we opened the door we felt extremely lucky to be staying in such a creative, beautiful space . Quality interior features that are both luxurious and practical. Fire had been lit for us and we could have just stayed in the shed for our whole stay.

Phenomenal
Ron and Yvonne’s wonderful property was the most unique stay we had in Tasmania. From the moment we walked in we were blown away, it was even more stunning than photos could capture. Great communication and personal touches. We will all be recommending this stay to everyone and can’t wait to be back someday hopefully soon!

We are a Melbourne/Berlin couple, making books, art and writing. We choose to live in Tasmania - for its beauty, health, good food, closeness to nature and for its remoteness.

Why they chose this property

We loved renovating our old farm shed together with Melbourne architect Sam Perversi-Brooks, respecting the story of the shed and the history of the beautiful Huon Valley.
