A Return Visit

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at this Rental.

We absolutly love this home! We speak of it so often,

that this year....relatives joined us!

Great stay had by all.

Our lil yorkie Rex loves running in the large yard.

Beds are as comfy as home. Just a calm peaceful

view along with the beautiful interior.

Pool was heated for us (nice plus) and we used the hot tub daily,

even after the snow storm!!

Did a little fishing (river was so very clear)

made use of the new ping pong table along with the

pool table,in the exterior garage.

We will be back again next year. cant wait!

Outstanding House and Amenities

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the Mountain Home property over the Labor Day weekend. We met friends and didn't leave once. You'll pay a little more for the house, but understand the entertainment is included in the cost - the river is gorgeous and there is plenty to enjoy for 2-3 days. Our kids were surprised to find the game room, which they enjoyed (along with the adults). Overall, we'd all highly recommend the property.

A True White River Resort experience

  • 5 of 5

We were two couples looking for a resort on the White River and we found it. This house is absolutely beautiful with a modern kitchen with granite counter tops, stainless appliances, and an open floor plan that allows everyone to be together during meal prep, but the real treasure comes when you step out of the back door. You have an unbelievable view of the White River and the most awesome infinity pool. We were able to get up each morning, wade into the river and fly fish right in front of the house. When our wives got up they took advantage of the infinity pool to sunbathe, listen to music (which we could hear on the river) and even watch us fish. When we tired of fishing we walked up the hill, got out of our gear and joined our wives in the pool. The infinity edge of the pool allowed us the unique ability to float in the pool and watch boats and other fisherman on the river. It is so very relaxing. This house is like a true resort. Once you are there you have no desire to leave. We fished (caught 50 in two days), swam, and truly relaxed all right there at the house. At night the back porch is beautiful when the pool is lit along with the lights around the deck. I truly recommend this for a resort like experience and we are already planning to stay again next summer. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

Wouldn't wish this experience on anyone

  • 1 of 5

Followed owners instructions, and contacted him for the code to unlock the door one hour before arrival. And he didn't send it. More than 2.5 hours later - sitting outside a locked house at the end of a dirt road in the literal middle of nowhere - I'm looking at a phone about to run out, the sun about to set, and the desperate need to think of a plan that doesn't end with my children sleeping in the car. After a dozen unreturned messages in which I started out friendly, then concerned, and then angry, I sent one last text: I'm leaving in five minutes - if you do not provide the code I'll see you in court. Ten minutes later, after making our way halfway up the dirt road, I finally get a response. Owner says he's "out of the country" and will have the code for me shortly. I waited it out because I was in the middle of nowhere with few options - but this is just inexcusable behavior. He had my money in full, it was hours after the rental agreement commenced, and he just left us out there to rot.

After that nightmare, the house offered more ordinary disappointments. As others have noted, the beautiful fountain shown in the picture is now just a fetid catch basin. If you like stagnant water, brown goop and a few cigarettes floating around, you'll like the look of the "fountain" now.

The house has no guide or instructions whatsoever. Had to specially ask for the code to unlock the game room door. In keeping with his efforts to make this stay awful, the owner then provided the wrong code.

Had to ask for the WiFi password. Sent it to me but the WiFi didn't actually work.

A few days into the stay, the pool turned green. Notified the owner, and he replies the next day asking if I wanted him to do something about the pool? Like I told him it was full of algae just because I wanted to chat with him or something.

My advice - save yourself the aggravation and stay somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Potentially a wonderful getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our first impression was what fantastic place, the grandkids loved the pool and game room and the river was so inviting. Our initial inspection found a few items in need of attention so we attempted to contact the owner, unfortunately he was in Europe and failed to arrange an alternate local contact. We discover there is no cell service so you must rely on the WiFi to contact the outside world. The infinitely pool was not working, the fire pit control was frozen, the pantry was broken, and the maintaince people were slow to respond. This was the first VRBO home we have stayed at that didn't have a binder the contained instructions on the house, contact information and recommendations for shopping and restaurants. That said the pool, hot tub and fishing were fantastic and we will seriously consider staying again. This is the first-ever vacation that the television never got turned on and no cell service was kind of nice too. We know a couple looking for just this sort of getaway and would like to recommend it, so please let us know when things are rectified.

Would definitely stay here again!

  • 4 of 5

First I'd like to thank John and Michelle Dunn for offering their property on this site. The home is beautiful, luxurious, serene, tranquil and peaceful. It was very comfortable for 6 adults to share. It is far from shops/restaurants/etc. so be sure to stock up your fridge. There is a long stretch of gravel road with a hairpin turn you must take to get to the secluded property - so we highly recommend leaving motorcycles at home! We trailered ours down with us and dropped the bike twice on the loose gravel portion of the road. Just a tip for any bikers planning to rent this home.

We highly recommend Keith Chisolm guided fishing trips. His pamphlets/information are in the kitchen drawer. He knows the hot fishing spots and is so knowledgeable and helpful. We caught 59 trout in 4 hours. We also recommend Riley's Station for fishing boat rental - reasonable and very friendly. Terry Marina we also recommend on Norfolk Lake. We rented a pontoon for the day - very reasonable and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The lake is crystal clear and warm. Great spots to dock and just relax in the water. Also highly recommended is KT's barbeque. OMG - so awesome and super friendly staff.

I would have given the review 5 stars except for the following reasons: The cascading waterfall from the pool which is mentioned several times in the advertisement was not running. We were told it needed to be cleaned. Well the basin that the water should be cascading in to was definitely dirty and had a bad odor. Very disappointed as this is in several pictures in the advertisement of this home. Also, the game room was unusable as there is no ventilation in the room which made it 92 degrees. There were also wasp nests in there and wasps flying all over. For the premium price we paid for this rental, I would have hoped that time would have been taken prior to our arrival to have these items taken care of. To advertise both and not be able to enjoy either is disappointing and I feel you should make mention in your marketing of the property until both are taken care of. Not fair to the renters.

There are plenty of amenities in the house with the exception of forks. LOL, for some reason there are not many. We brought plastic utensils so it worked out. We do planning on returning next year, and hope some maintenance is done before then (ie: power washing back of house that faces pool).

Overall we had a fabulous time!
