About this property

Lakeside cabin with captivating views, free kayaks, close to Metung Hot Springs

Perfectly positioned between Lakes Entrance and Metung, our lakeside retreat offers the best of both worlds when you're looking to relax and explore the Gippsland Lakes region. The tiny lakeside hamlet of Nungurner is the stuff of fairytales. Taking full advantage of our hillside location, each of our four cabins offer enviable lake views looking down through the treetops to the water's edge below. Framed by two jetties and an historic boatshed, the Nungurner foreshore situated below your accommodation provides an enchanting setting for your getaway.

If you're looking to reconnect with nature and enjoy life's simple pleasures, you're going to love it here. Be inspired by the views from your deck, hand feed friendly native birds, take one of our complimentary kayaks out for a paddle on the lake, drop a fishing line in off the jetty below, amble along walking tracks to hidden beaches or toast marshmallows and stargaze around your private outdoor fire-pit.

Our accommodation appeals equally to couples, families, solo travellers or friends, looking for a nature based getaway away from the crowds. Complimentary on site facilities include private jetty (so you can bring your boat!), kayaks with paddles and vests, bird feeding, shared laundry and electric BBQ facilities, unlimited Wifi, plus a designated fish cleaning area to clean your catch.

A Closer Look At Your Accommodation (Cabin 4)

Facing the Nungurner foreshore with enviable views through the trees to the lake below, Cabin 4 captures plenty of sunshine (especially during winter) and offers privacy. Featuring mid century furnishings, light filled spaces and plenty of little touches to make your stay extra special. Your private deck is the place to relax with a glass of wine or enjoy al fresco dining. In the evenings, sit around your private outdoor fire pit and gaze up at unpolluted skies.

The cabin is equipped with split system air conditioning for year round comfort, plus bathroom heating, electric blankets, ceiling fans and large windows designed to capture the gentle coastal breezes in the warmer months.

Sleeping up to 5 guests, bedroom one offers a King Koil luxury bed with magnificent views, and bedroom two has a tri-bunk (double bed with single bunk up top). Deluxe hotel quality bed and bath linen is provided for your stay.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, wth Nespresso coffee machine, electric stove, microwave and full size fridge, plus plenty of cookware and basic kitchen provisions to get your stay off to a great start (coffee pods, foil, clingwrap, ground coffee, tea, sugar etc). We can also arrange grazing platters, breakfast provisions and convenience meals to be delivered in advance, for a hassle free stay.

The bathroom features modern step free shower, toilet and complimentary locally made bathroom toiletries. Parking is adjacent to your cabin under sheltered carport, with additional parking available in our visitor bays nearby. An outdoor power outlet is available next to our BBQ area for electric cars to recharge on a complimentary basis.

Nearby Attractions

With the Gippsland Lakes on your doorstep, get out and make a splash! The adjacent foreshore area provides sheltered, sandy access to the lake, ideal for a paddle or a swim for all ages.

Bring your canoe, kayak, paddle board or boat to venture out and explore the Gippsland Lakes, islands and inland waterways. We also have a number of kayaks available for guests to use on a complimentary basis.

Drop a fishing line off the jetty and try your luck at bagging a bream, flathead, whiting or salmon for dinner. Or just sit back with a glass of wine and gaze at the boats as they go by (in winter months be sure to keep an eye out for our resident dolphins!).

You can bring your bike and experience the world class mountain bike trails within nearby Colquhoun forest, around 5 minutes drive from our Retreat.

The Metung Hot Springs is situated less than 10 minutes drive from our property, offering year round bathing in geothermal pools, and a range of wellness experiences.

Pack a picnic and drive a few minutes to Nyerimilang Park, a historic homestead set in beautiful gardens with clifftop views of the Lakes system and scenic walking tracks.

Head to a nearby farmers' market (held in Metung on the second Saturday each month). Whilst in Metung, stretch your legs on the boardwalk that hugs the lake.

Grab some fish and chips and sit and watch the fishing fleets returning at Lakes Entrance. Buy some fresh caught seafood straight off the fishing trawlers and bring it back to your cabin for a seafood feast.

Or simply slow down, pour a glass of exquisite local wine and immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of your surroundings.

Amazing views. Kids loved the birds and we all enjoyed the complimentary kayaks. My husband fished off the pier every day. A little piece of paradise without the crowds.

Wonderful lakes hideaway.
Atmospheric older style cabins with all mod cons and brilliant views of the jetty and lake, immersed in the local treed slopes and visited by many local birds. Very comfortable even in the coldest days this winter. Would be comfortable for two couples or a family with well equipped kitchen and small dining/sitting area. Very quiet at night but easy access by car to eateries/supplies of Lakes Entrance or Metung.
