About this property

The Big House @ Ethel & Ode's

Located at Jibbon Beach in Bundeena, this absolute waterfront beach house feels a million miles away, yet is located just one hour from the heart of Sydney.
The main house at Ethel & Ode's accommodates 8 people in a luxurious boutique setting. Comprising four bedrooms; one queen and two double rooms, one room with two singles, two indoor and one outdoor bathrooms, modern kitchen, laundry facilities and a Tesla charger; Ethel & Ode's is made for your next family holiday.
Inspired by the memories of our grandparents, Ethel & Ode's was established to provide a relaxing space for our family and yours to enjoy and create memories for generations to come.
Bundeena is a small town surrounded by The Royal National Park and can easily be walked. Beaches, restaurants and cafes are all within a 1 to 10 minute walk of the property.

Situated within the Royal National Park, Bundeena is popular with locals and tourists alike for hiking, swimming, birdwatching, watersports and whale/dolphin watching. There are a few friendly cafes on the main street, and plenty of regular local events to experience.
Heres our list of recommendations for the area;
• Hike, Birdwatch, Fish, Whale Watch in the Royal National Park
• Go on the Bundeena-Maianbar Heritage Walk
• See the Jibbon Aboriginal Rock Carvings
• Peruse Bundeena Saltwater Markets (first Sunday of every month)
• Go whale-watching by charter boat or view from the sandstone cliffs of the south head only 25 minutes walk along beautiful Jibbon beach
• Check out the Art Trail from Bundeena to Maianbar (first Sunday of every month)
• Surf Garie Beach, Square Head or North Era breaks
• Marvel at natural wonders like Figure 8 Pool and Wedding Cake Rock
• Visit historic Audley Boatshed with fun for the whole family including rowboats, canoes, kayaks, aqua-bikes, mountains bikes & kiosk
• Explore Port Hacking by Kayak
• Hire bikes and cruise around town – call (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
• Catch the ferry to Cronulla for a few hours or join them for a cruise
• Just remember that you don’t have to pay the national park entry fee if you are going to Bundeena only, however if you wish to explore the Royal National Park you must pay the entry fee as fines are enforced.

Ethel & Ode's is located in Bundeena - a unique beach side town located within the Royal National Park. Just under one hour from Sydney CBD by car, there is also a train from Central Station to Cronulla (1hr travel time) and an hourly ferry that goes from Cronulla to Bundeena (20 minute journey). Please note that if you are staying in Bundeena you are exempt from paying the National Park visitor's fee when you enter into the Royal National Park. There is no direct public transport in/around Bundeena but everything is within walking distance.
We take climate change seriously and try to lighten our load on the earth at Bundeena. The property has green kitchen bags that are compostable and we welcome you filling them with raw fruit and vegetables, coffee (our pods are compostable), tea leaves, along with brown matter such as nut shells, tea bags, dead leaves, small twigs, hay, straw, wood chips, cardboard, newspaper, and cotton rags. Never place cooked food, dairy products, meat, fish bones, or fat in our compost bin, as these substances produce odors that can lure pests. Other food waste can be placed in the council red bin. We also encourage you not to bring single use plastic water bottles on site as we have refillable water bottles for your use while you stay.
Our bathrooms run on pumps and connect to septic. Our toilet paper is recycled bamboo and is the only products the septic can take. Disposal of anything else such as sanitary products, makeup or baby wipes may cause blockage which will impact your stay and necessitate expensive repairs for which guests will be charged.

Our team attend the property from time to time to attend bins and garden maintenance. They will say hello if they see you but will absolutely respect your privacy.
If you have dogs that need their own holiday; while we cannot accommodate them, we recommend Hanrob Pet Hotel in Heathcote which is only a short diversion on your way to Ethel & Ode's.

Beautiful home, gorgeous views
Our family’s stay at Bundeena was amazing, and a lot of that was due to this beautiful property. The location and views of the beach were unbeatable. The house was extremely clean and had everything we needed. Catherine was extremely helpful and made the whole process very easy. Definitely will be looking to stay here again for the next family getaway!

Bundeena Bliss!
Our adult family stayed at the Big House to attend our daughter's wedding at nearby Audley; we walked in and immediately relaxed. The view was incredible, even better than the photos. The rooms are all beautifully furnished, and bathrooms are spectacular. So much space and light and all you would need for a peaceful getaway. We loved it and did not want to leave! Thank you, we will be back.

Perfect Escape
Property was spectacular, so clean and well presented and a lovely property host. Position was perfect and the view was absolutely stunning, felt like we were in the Mediterranean with calm clean waters at our doorstep. Dolphins, sailing boats, rowers all on view. Couldn’t wish for a better experience.

Highly recommend!
We stayed in the Big House and it was the perfect property for our family (6 adults and 3 children). the house had everything we needed and the view over the water was spectacular. A short walk into town and to the wharf/main beach was convenient and Jibbon Beach a short stroll away. We were able to access the property before regular check in time and communication with Catherine was prompt.
