Our studio apartment lives at the base of the Illawarra Escarpment, on 3 acres of land resting behind the main residence but feeling completely separate. It has views of the surrounding gardens.
The studio itself has a mezzanine style layout. The upstairs houses the bedroom with one double bed and one click clack which folds out to accommodate two children or one adult. A fold out can also be provided.
The bathroom is on the ground floor and provides all your needs.
The open plan design of the ground floor provides a comfortable lounge and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped as is the laundry. (No clothes dryer).
During your stay with us you will be able to enjoy the abundance of bird life that surrounds; wallabies are frequent visitors, as are water dragons. If you are lucky you may spot an echidna or lyre birds.
We have chickens and you are most welcome to try your luck with some eggs.
You can wake in the morning to the quintessential sound of whip birds and the gentle sound of the ocean and feel miles away from everything, but in fact you are only moments away from patrolled beaches and rock swimming pools, coffee shops and cafes. Austinmer/Thirroul boast many boutique shopping experiences. All of this is a an easy stroll away or a very quick drive.
Other activities include bush walking, walking along the beaches and bike riding. At the bottom of our street the dedicated bike path begins that takes you all the way into Wollongong.
To get here: enter via the gated driveway, drive to the top and park your car at the end. To access the studio you walk along a 50 meter bush track which is suitable for people without walking difficulties.
Our studio apartment will suit couples who enjoy the quietness of the country, artists looking for inspiration for the next painting, novel or poem they are creating, overseas visitors who would like to see real life Australian animals up close in their natural environment and families who need some time away near beaches and family safe activities .
Austinmer station is a ten minute walk and it is only 20 minutes to Wollongong via the train. Arrangements can be made to pick up and drop off at the beginning and end of your visit (with prior arrangement) if you would like to stay with us but do not own a car.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Melanie and Brett.
