Linden Hall Farm Guest House

A Sojourn in the Country

Our Northern Virginia Guest House is your home in the country for a week or a weekend -- a peaceful and central location near the many attractions in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Western Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Enjoy a rural setting with upscale accommodations and privacy in a newly renovated farmhouse (circa 1790's) located on 35 acres in historic Loudoun County. The guest house is unique and separate from the main house, giving you your own private entrance, a fully equipped country kitchen, a living room and studio, so guests have plenty of space for privacy or gatherings. There are two beautifully decorated bedrooms upstairs, a small bedroom downstairs off the kitchen, and a newly renovated bathroom. The guest house features two porches, with one overlooking the gardens and the Blue Ridge mountains. There are stables and a ring available for horses. You are welcome to walk the grounds or swim or relax in our Endless Pool.

It just is a wonderful, peaceful, private setting!

Come hike, bike or ride your horse on the 184.5 mile long Chesapeake & Ohio Canal located along the north bank of the Potomac River, starting in Washington, DC and ending in Cumberland, MD. Hike the Appalachian Trail. Raft or kayak on the Potomac or Shenandoah Rivers, or visit historic Leesburg, Harper's Ferry or the many local Civil War battlefields, all within an hour or less scenic drive. Or, you can relax and enjoy the view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains from your private porch, while sipping wine from the local vineyards. Or cool off in the same setting in our Endless Pool.

Visit award winning Virginia wineries, just minutes from the house. Dine at excellent restaurants within 30 minutes drive. Shop at antiques shops, Leesburg Outlets Mall, or in prominent locations such as Middleburg VA. Spend an evening at the Charles Town WV race track and casino. See museums, from the Brunswick Railroad Museum (5 min) to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum (40 min).

A commuter train to Washington is just 5 min away. Or just relax and enjoy the quiet setting.

Initial continental breakfast makings provided in a complete country kitchen.

About Bart Hodgson

Bart and Carol are your hosts at Linden Hall. The property was acquired in 1997. The previous owners had purchased the home in the 1960s and spent over 20 years restoring the rundown buildings, for which they won the 1984 Loudoun Preservation Society Merit Award. Since then, the Hodgson’s have continued to enhance the home inside and out. The Guest House was previously a rental home. In the Summer of 2009, the Hodgson’s decided to create an upscale lodging which would emphasize the rural setting and availability of local attractions. Over the following months, they labored to upgrade the kitchen, bathroom and furnishings throughout the residence.

The doors to Linden Hall Guest House opened in November 2010.

Bart Hodgson purchased this chateau / country house in 1997

Why Bart Hodgson chose Northern Virginia - Washington DC

Warm, comfortable, and in a relaxing country setting central to many activities.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The setting is beautiful, and we have added a lot of landscaping. Children enjoy the farm animals and tire swing in a shaded lawn. The Guest House has a laundry, which makes it excellent for families on vacation. With free Wi-Fi, the Guest House offers a quiet and peaceful place to keep in touch with work and other interests.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Linden Hall Farm

A deeply invigorating, peaceful, reflective and nurturing experience.

Toobaa Academy’s retreat is intended to help nurture the inner potential of each of our girls. Nurturing the progressive growth of each girl leads to perfection by the Grace of The Almighty. Just as a seed has potential that can be nurtured by skilled gardeners and can eventually become a beautiful plant; each girl has potential that can be nurtured. Linden Hall Farm, with its pristine and awe inspiring landscape was again the ideal environment for each of our girl to bloom and make manifest the potential that The Almighty has placed inside her.

Thank you for the exquisite accommodation and gracious hospitality. We fully enjoyed the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and textures of God’s creation with a symphony of other critters. We are filled with gratitude for the opportunity and time to meditate with such beauty all around. We are blessed to have Linden Hall Farm as an anchor for personal and spiritual growth.

Our souls have been nourished, our feet have been rested and our hearts filled with peace and tranquility.

COMFY AND CLOSE TO EVERYTHING

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from this lovely place. Owners- outstanding! We had everything we needed. Any question answered. The back porch ahhhhhhh. The critters- dogs, mini donkeys, sheep- so cute! The house has every thing you need AND is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. I have stayed in many vrbo/homeaway properties and this is possibly the cleanest I have ever stayed at and clean is always my first priority - it makes everything comfortable.... Close to tons of wineries, Harpers Ferry and other cute country towns. Ate at WK Hearth- $$$ but worth EVERY PENNY!!!!!!!! Didn't use the pool because it is still too cold but I suppose that would be great too! Don't second guess yourself and just stay here!!!!!

Peacefull Bliss

  • 5 of 5

Bart and his family were remarkable even prior to our arrival to ensure we had everything we needed before we embarked on our trip. The guest house was conveniently located near the start/finish line of the wine country half marathon and provided a secluded and relaxing retreat to spend the remainder of the weekend. The guest house is well maintained and the owners treat you like family. The property has unique amenities including animals and a pool but the best feature may be the quiet back patio with a view!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Adam. I haven't quite figured out why people want to run 13 miles, but it's easy to understand how the view and quiet make a nice relaxing background for the back porch or poolside!

Serene countryside private house

  • 5 of 5

Serene, countryside historic farmhouse in Virginia. Totally updated in the guest quarters. The hosts were friendly and always available. They are kind enough to stock the kitchen with anything you would need for your first meals. Kitchen is certainly adequate for family gathering and very well-stocked. Outside is a wonderful image of rolling green hills and well tended farms. You are only 25 minutes from Leesburg VA or Frederick Maryland. There is more than sufficient local history involving both the revolutionary and Civil War. Nearby are excellent restaurants. Definitely would return again.

Owner's Response: No wonder the Union Army wintered over here! Actually, not nearly as pleasant a time in our history, but it all looked the same then. Linden Hall Farm is steeped in history, and more recently steeped in relaxation and enjoyment.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Matt. You zeroed in on one of the most often commented aspects of our farm, especially the miniature donkeys. We hope you enjoyed your stay.
