Owner cancelled our reservation the evening before
We had a valid VRBO reservation for this property and upon messaging the owner the day before our stay for information on the yoga room she informed us the property was booked by someone else.
We sent her a screen shot of our VRBO confirmation and within a few minutes received an email saying the owner cancelled our reservation. No excuse other than cancelled.
My wife messaged the owner and was told the double booking was due to a "platform" issue. Not sure what that meant but we did have the funds for our reservation taken out of our credit card account so someone should have known it was reserved.
We were traveling to SLC for a business meeting and had already spent considerable monies towards activities that weekend. Since we were committed in going we had to get another last minute VRBO at a significantly higher price.
The only reason we discovered our reservation would not be honored was because we messaged the owner about access to the yoga studio. Had we arrived in SLC without knowing our reservation was double booked/cancelled we could have incurred even more financial loss in procuring last minute lodging as well as missing our meeting the day we arrived.
We would love to know what VRBO's policy is on owners cancelling reservations without good cause. Particularly at the last minute while causing the renter financial loss.
It is apparent this owner does not have a grasp on how to manage their property. We would caution buyer beware when looking to rent from them.
