Guestbook comments from the manager

This was the most perfect place for our family to stay and prepare for our son's wedding. We had a wonderful time and we were completely comfortable in your home. From my 87 year old mother taking over the "butler's quarters" - Mike & I having the bedroom next to her (just so I could keep an ear open for her during the night); to our 3 grandchildren taking over the upper bedroom and turning it into a dormitory; to our son/spouse, daughter/spouse and my sister each having the privacy of their own room.

Amazing vrbo for multiple families with kids!!

  • 5 of 5

The Hawthorne Manor surpassed our expectations. It is awesome. We stayed there with extended family as we were all in town for a wedding nearby. We had 8 adults and 4 kids, and everyone had their own space for sleeping and were extremely comfortable. The kids had so much fun exploring, and there are lots of movies to watch and games to play. Everyone enjoyed the deck, which has plenty of seating room, and the other favorite spot was the sunroom. The house is relatively close to anywhere you'd want to go in Duluth - we even biked to Canal Park and back one day! Theresa, the owner, is so nice and thoughtful and can answer any questions or offer suggestions. We loved loved loved our stay at the Hawthorne Manor and would definitely come back!

Beautiful large house with lots of character

  • 5 of 5

We had a large multi-family gathering of 14. There were lots of places for everyone to sleep. This home has been so carefully and beautifully remodeled to retain character, yet still be very functional. The kids loved the laundry chute and the servant's bell. We enjoyed learning some of the history of the house in the binder. There's a wonderful creek path that you can access from the back yard. We had so much fun and found Theresa to be very responsive and available for questions. We would recommend this well-maintained home to any large group.

Everything was awesome, The location and the house were beautiful. We went on the nature walks both days and they were breathtaking along the river. There was plenty of room for everyone to stay comfortably and plenty of amenities for a relaxing stay. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Fabulous Place for Girls' Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Returned to Hawthorne Manor for our fifth annual get-together. It's hard to believe, but each time we return, it gets better and better. Theresa continues to update furnishings and add homey touches. Bed linens and towels are of high quality along with just about everything else in the house. We tried the New London Café this year. About two miles from HM. Nice neighborhood café, nothing fancy, but good food. This house is perfect for a group. We all look forward to coming back next year.

Truly amazing place to stay. Highly recommend for a fabulous and unique stay, while visiting Duluth.

  • 5 of 5

Amazing experience all around. Highly recommended. The manor is truly amazing and pics do not do the place enough justice. Plenty of room for bigger groups. Amazed at all the accomedies that the house had from a radio with a very nice CD music selection to a great selection of board games to play. Great location not to far from the strip for shopping and going out to eat. If you like history this place is a must. Has an awesome binder full of history on the place that is a must read. Every room in the manor is unique and has a lot of charm and character. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Duluth. Will definitely be returning again.
